Looking to purchase a bag and not sure which is better! Below are the two choices.
1. LouLou toy bag - I don’t have a bag similar to this one but worried about the wear/tear form opening and closing it and also the size inside (small).
2. Lou camera bag - I don’t love the tassel but I don’t hate it either. I have a Gucci camera bag that is similar to this bag so I’m hesitant to get this bag for that reason.

The tassel on my Lou camera bag from 2019 is removable. I know they changed the tassel slightly since then, but I thought that was just a design change (missing the extra gold piece). I'm sure one of the others who has a newer camera bag can weigh in.

If you have the disco soho, the Lou camera bag is not as wide and longer/more rectangular (my old disco soho felt more blocky when I wore it due to how wide the bag is).

I have the toy loulou as well. It's definitely a small bag, but it just feels nicer (to the touch) than the Lou camera bag IMO (not that the Lou camera bag isn't nice).

The Lou camera bag definitely holds quite a bit more than the toy loulou though, due to having 1 open compartment vs. the split compartment in the toy loulou that limits what you carry.

Another key difference: lou camera bag has a non-removable leather strap. Toy loulou has a detachable leather strap, so you can change it if you want to.

Both bags are great choices. Just depends on what you like and what fits your lifestyle best!

Thanks so much for your feedback, very helpful! I don’t have the Gucci disco it’s the Gucci marmont matelasse. So I do think the Lou camera is taller and boxier in comparison. But still little too similar to me. So hard to pick!!

Oh, knowing that you have that camera bag, I vote for the toy loulou then (as long as the smaller bag works for what you carry)! Nothing wrong with having two matelasse camera bags, but a change in style might be nice. LOL.

Excellent job laying out the differences between the two bags, as well as their pluses and minuses!

To the OP - I have the Lou camera bag and the small loulou, and I love them both. It really comes down to how much you plan on carrying when you’re out. As Thundercloud mentioned, the toy will definitely hold less than the camera, but if you’re only looking to fit a card case and a few other small items, you should be fine. The camera bag holds a fair amount for a smaller bag, but it does seem more casual than the toy (especially when the leather strap is swapped for a chain). As far as the tassel on the camera bag goes, I hear ya! Mine was purchased in 2019, and as soon as I got home I removed it! In regards to wear and tear on the toy, I can only speak to how my small has held up (with admittedly not all that much use), and there are definitely creases in the leather from the flap opening/closing. That being said, my camera bag has a ton of creases as well! :annoyed::annoyed:

Ah! Thanks so much! I’m so torn. I am leaning towards the toy Lou since it’s different. When I go out I’m ok with phone, keys,cards, sunglasses and maybe a sanitizer now :). I think I’ll have to go in store and compare them.

Aesthetically, I prefer the Lou camera bag. I like the cleaner, boxy look on a small bag and I like the tassel. But that’s my personal taste. The toy LouLou is a better quality bag and you have the option of replacing the leather strap with a chain for an additional look. (I have the medium LouLou and it’s a gorgeous bag but I think the chain strap gives it added oomph.). Since the toy Loulou has a split compartment you may have trouble fitting your sunglasses in it. This is always a consideration for me when I buy a small bag.

As ILP mentioned, you might have a little trouble fitting the sunglasses in, but who knows! A trip to the store to compare the two definitely sounds like a good plan. Just be sure to have all the aforementioned items with you to see how everything fits. Good luck, these are good “problems” to have!

I do not have the Lou Camera (I have the Gucci Marmont and Soho cameras, so I think getting a Lou would be bit overkill for me) BUT I do have a (velvet, in case this affects capacity) Toy Loulou.

Regarding the flap of the Toy, I have found it has some balding along the front v-part, but you wouldn't really notice in person - I find it's magnified in photos. And it's velvet so it's expected and I try to not use the bag too much.

I would get another Toy Loulou, but I'm waiting for a colour I like and I want to find it on sale. BUT I really love the bag and would gladly buy one in leather. I don't think you can go wrong with either bag really, but get the Toy Loulou if you really like it :biggrin:

For what fits: I can fit my iPhone 12 mini, cloth mask, card case, coin bag, mini hand sanitizer, small bottle of Tylenol, my work badge, and a couple of lip products. I did find when I had a larger phone it was trickier (I had to place it in the back of half of the bag as it's slightly longer). I could stuff a squishy makeup bag in there, as well, but I haven't done that since I started carrying a mask and hand sanitizer everywhere. I never use the card slots as I find them... weirdly loose?

Thanks so much! I actually tried the toy on in store today and it’s soooo much smaller than I thought inside and I don’t think it comfortably fits my iPhone 12max. May be worth bumping up to the small version of the bag or just getting a camera bag. I always have a hard time justifying spending over 2k on a bag when I WFH most the time and don’t go out much. Just beautiful bags and I don’t have a black one besides my longchamp. Thanks for your input and ‘listening’ to me :)
