Hello everyone!
I have noticed a lot of chanel bags recently (particularly from images in the resale market) looking lopsided, meaning that the flap is not completely straight across but that one side is slightly higher. Is this something that happens with normal wear and is there any way to prevent it from happening? Does anyone have any experience with this issue within their personal Chanel collection / able to provide pictures of this issue? I would love to hear some insight on this - thank you!

I noticed the same on brand new seasonal flaps at the boutique. Almost all of them were lopsided.

None of mine have crooked flaps. It could be the way they're stored and/or stuffed. I have brand new items and older ones, and haven't had that issue.

I'm wondering, it they're straighter when the stuffing is removed, that's was I was trying to say, since none of mine have had crooked straps. I can see how stuffing them with filler or personal items could cause it.

So my SA told me that when the store stores the bags, they typically tuck the chain on one side. Because of this, one side is prone to being just a bit higher than the other side. Even if the bag was 100% symmetrical (which I don't think anything handmade is), it would look just slightly lopsided. That being said, symmetry is really important to me and I always compare a few before purchasing to make sure it's even enough.

I just bought a new flap and I inspected three of them in the same color before I purchase. Only 1 had a flap that was cut symmetrical. The unevenness wasn’t because of the storing of the chain, although the SA did recommend tucking the chain equally on both sides. It was because one side was cut differently than the other. The SA said they’re handmade so unfortunately there’s imperfections which isn’t ok to me considering the price.

I believe this issue has been around for years. It's just about finding the non lopsided piece.
About 8-9 years ago i bought a jumbo flap and the store had to take out few of it (more than 5 less than 10. I guess back then stock was more readily available? Not sure about stock now at store for jumbo ghw). The flaps didnt line well like you've said. Plus some have crooked CC metal. The last piece she took out was finally fine. It was a "memorable" shopping experience.

I think everyone is forgetting that the flap can be moved by some millimetres- it’s the construction of the bag and the flap Logic per se. Unless it’s off by numerous centimetres, you can make any flap classical or seasonal look off by playing around with the flap. It’s just a matter of adjusting it

Hello - I was thinking about purchasing this small classic flap preloved. But I noticed the flaps are misaligned. Does this seem unusually uneven or status quo? I’ve heard / seen many these days that aren’t perfect, but for the price, woof !

Would you purchase this bag? It’s a little crooked (I did) but now having complete seconds thoughts. Will the flap get more crooked over time? Should I cut my losses and return it and hope another comes around? The hanging picture is now it looks now after being out of the packaging with the chain stuffed under the flap.

I just responded to your other thread. Yes return it and wait for another. This flap obviously dips down on the right unevenly, I wouldn't accept that. You'll be able to find another one soon.
