I second this. Just bought a huge customized leather tote from her for way under your spending limit and she is an absolute pleasure to work with.

I have to 3rd this. I have multiple bags from her and they are great. I have a great tote from her that is so soft and well made but also some inner pockets for organization

Seriously. Where else can you say you have a completely hand made bag that's just for you, communicate with the designer and maker, and know that you're getting something that is high quality, made to last, and is made in the USA with locally sourced leathers and hardware?

I bought a Kate Spade bag (cobble hill little minka, which I really like) in June this past summer and my bag from Laurel is definitely (no doubt about it) higher quality.

Check out the Frye Bianca tote or Hobo. I have the small satchel at the bottom of the pic and I love the leather! It's soft and sturdy. I'd buy the hobo in a second, but i don't need such a big bag.

These guys are a Canadian company from Ontario that i am in LOVE with. They have some beautiful totes and hobos and their staff are lovely.

There prices are pretty reasonable - totes are $200 (can$) + & hobos are $299-ish.

I have the hobo in two-tone suede and leather and its so soft and an organizers dream. It has more zippered pockets than you can shake a stick at.

I have been on the hunt for a simple tote for work and I've looked at Cuyana, Madewell, Baggu, Everlane and Michael Kors. I wanted something soft and caramel in color so Madewell and Everlane were out due to their structure. cuyana ended up costing a lot more to have it shipped to Canada due to $, shipping and Brokerage. So it was down to Baggu and Michael Kors Lizzy.

Baggu- super thick soft leather, really nice quality but also heavier do to thickness, slightly bigger but unlined. One small interior pocket and made in the USA. Substantial handles.

Michael Kors Lizzy - soft leather, not as thick as baggu, reversible (i got black and caramel). No interior pockets but comes with detachable pouch.

I loved the idea of the Baggu and it would be a great casual bag but I needed something for work and the MK is cleaner looking and lighter weight to carry a laptop. The reversible was kinda cool too, so the MK one out. Here are some pics.

Sorry if I hijacked the thread, but thought it might be helpful for someone!

These look beautiful, I love the salted caramel urban tote! I was thinking of asking my bf for a bag for my birthday (since he hates buying presents, so he always asks me what I want directly :D), but I haven't decided what kind of bag I want... Does someone know some european Etsy sellers that make similar good quality bags? It would be easier for me to buy from Europe due to customs etc.
I had never heard of Massaccesi before, and I'm from Italy... it's so strange!

I once tried to buy a bag from the US. Fortunately, I phoned the French Customs first.... And what I heard deterred me from ordering it!
There is shipping of course+ Customs Duties + French VAT on both the bag and the shipping....[emoji732]️[emoji732]️

Have you heard of Belen Echandia? Marco Massaccesi made the bags for that brand. This is why he has a ready made client base even though he only launched his own brand last year.

If I was in Italy I would want to buy a bag from Scuola Del Cuoio in Florence. The bags are so beautiful and well-priced! They have an online shop here:

Yes, buying from outside the EU is a pain! I bought some stuff online from the US in the past years, but it was always under the 22 euros mark (including shipping), because in that case you don't have to buy any additional taxes. At least that's how it works in Italy.

I didn't know Scuola del cuoio, some of their bags look really beautiful! Thanks a lot for the suggestion :smile1:

Ditto on the Whipping Post tote. The solid base, hearty leather, and simple design make it classic and timeless. I didn't want a leather tote that was so soft that it just flopped and lost its structure. Love the Whipping Post tote!

Not sure if the original poster found her tote.... but there seems to still be interest. Check out the Linjer thread, or their kickstarter campaign. they make exactly what the OP described, at a very reasonable price point. Beautiful and simple, no splashy logos, vegetable tanned leather in mouth watering colors.... AND THEY SHIP FREE ANYWHERE IN THE WORLD!!

It is a husband/wife group, he is from Norway and she is from Hong Kong, the kickstarter campaign is being run out of Norway.

The thread is here in Bags Bags Bags or the website is https://www.kickstarter.com/project...bags-without-the-luxury-markup?ref=nav_search
