Longines v Omega

Longines makes excellent watches. They use ETA movements, which is owned by the Swatch Group; the parent company of Omega. I would not hesitate to purchase one. Omega is considered a step up from Longines. I would just buy which ever one you like more; do not worry about which is better, as they are both respected brands.

I agree. While I don't own a Longines, I think they are a good value in the world of watches. While Omega is a step up in terms of the finishing and movement, I think it should depend on which style you prefer. Good luck choosing!

Black dial definitely dresses up a watch.

I disagree, but I encourage OP to choose whatever pleases her most. In men's watches, for sure it's a white dial that's dressier than black. If we look at premium brands, the dress watches for women have traditionally been white or silver. Naturally tastes change over time, and today there are gorgeous dials of various colors on diamond-blinged dressy watches. Black dials read sporty to me, as a rule.

I agree black on STAINLESS reads sporty, but black on gold looks super dressy....to me at least.

LOL! yay. I need a nice mu haul! This jewelry section is bad news!!!!:p
I spent all my money at Birks though, LMAO!!!

OP - I too vote Omega! The black/diamond seems to suit your day to night criteria. Plus it's prrrreeety

My SA also said that the new movement for this year is superior to the past & Longines... longer warranty too.

Black dial brings out the diamonds, although black dials has been around but I think white dials are a classic. Just think how do you like the look after 3 - 5 years, if you do not intend to sell it for a new watch. If that's not in your consideration, then buy what looks better on your wrist. Please try all you have selected to see which one looks best!

As I said, I'm an Omega fan, I vote for the Omega. Seems like the new Constellation looks chunkier and sportier than it's older model. Longines, that model (round) is a classic but looks rather dated, perhaps nice as a evening watch but seems unsuitable for daily wear. The Dolce Vita (rectangular) is a bit more modern but go for the mid-size.

I tried on a new & older Constelation side by side last month & the new one DOES stant out farther. It's certainly chunkier.

I have both. I have a Longine stainless steel with diamonds I wear everyday for work. It's virtually non-destructable (less easily scratched than my Cartier, believe it or not). I also own Omega but I believe that both are good. Omega may be a little more traditional looking. As far as value goes, Omega might have a little better resale value then Longines. Resale value wise, Cartier and Rolex are always much better than Omega.
