Thanks so much for all your comments, everyone! I pulled the trigger on a pair of Brixtons (wanted to have enough time before the job starts to exchange if the sizing wasn't right) and they arrived yesterday! I bought from Net-a-Porter as the markup here is quite sizeable, and I even got lucky and wasn't charged import tax at the door (often leather shoes net you a big bill). 
Anyway, I tried them on and they fit like a glove; they felt amazing just walking around the house and I'm in love already! I'll definitely be putting rubber half-soles on as they felt quite slippery and I could see myself wiping out in them, lol.
