Hi everyone.
I was browsing youtube videos and instagram and a lot of the bloggers recommend Lilysilk in their videos.
Normally I don't really care or get influenced, however I liked the way their shirts look and I am dying to find work clothing alternatives rather than the regular shirt.
I ordered 1 work shirt and 1 nice blouse, however the shipping is done from China.
E-mailed them as I am in EU and not at all interested to pay VAT or custom fees, and they told me if that was the case they would reimburse.
Anyone has ordered something so far and has experience? Durability or comfort?

Lilysilk is on a big influencer kick and has been doing their marketing almost exclusively through sponsored content with various Youtubers. You're right to be wary of their online reviews because influencers cannot be objective when they're being gifted items and paid for the shout out.

I haven't tried the brand myself (though had earlier bookmarked a blouse from them to potentially buy for my mother, but didn't follow through because I couldn't find objective reviews), so I will be watching the thread with interest.

I sincerely hope that your items are lovely and you find them to be a good investment. It's also brilliant that they're willing to reimburse any customs fees that you may get!

My main issue is that "ok they look nice in tons of lightning and special cameras, but how are they irl?" because honestly the price label is not that high as you would imagine for 100% silk.
I will update once received around Tuesday and hope they fit xD

They arrived, however I am sending them back. The size was too big (two sizes, even though I selected Small FR34-36 which is my size) and the blouses themselves had no design in my opinion. It's like pieces of silk stitched together, no craftsmanship.
The silk quality was good though

Funny you should update this now as I was just thinking I need to post in this thread!

It's a shame that the Lilysilk pieces didn't have a decent design. It's funny because I noticed that in the photos on the site, the tops look good only when tucked in... and now I understand why from what you said! They're just panels stitched together without an actual thought to design and the movement of the fabric when put on.
Sizing is always hit and miss when ordering from a China based company. That's truly frustrating!
Thanks for remembering to post that info in here; I'm sure loads of people will find it useful.

If you're still looking for silk options, I remembered that I have a few 100% silk tops from COS. That's what I was coming to post on this thread.
I don't know if you have a COS store locally- ideally you would be able to go and see the pieces before buying, but you can certainly buy online.
They are great quality and have lasted a long time with me, and they often do nice colours as well. I checked and I have 2 button down basic silk blouses, 1 silk dress, and 3 v-neck silk short sleeve tees. I really like them- not too thick, but not see-through in white, and very soft to the touch and cooling on the skin.

I would also suggest waiting for them to go on sale before buying, because there are maybe 3 big sales a year and silk items are often included in those.

& Other Stories also does some silk tops. I have another 2 button downs from them, and my mother owns a whole bunch of button down blouses in their silk (in plain colours and also in patterns). They also hold up quite well- mum has had hers for maybe 3 years, wears them weekly and they still look new. Hand wash silk items and lay flat to dry, that keeps them lasting ages.
I feel the silk is a little thinner from & Other Stories. That doesn't bother me but if you're buying a white silk blouse, you will want to layer a cami under it not to be too sheer, since you mentioned you want to wear these at work.

If I think of any other retailers that offer silk, I'll be sure to update here for you.

I never thought about COS!
Thank you very much!!!
We have 2 stores in the area, one opened recently and there's sales currently so I will pass by today to check if there are still sizes (we have a huge size problem in my area, in my sizes, they just don't bring enough so I end up buying shoes xD)
My bf was like "it looks like a kimono, tuck it in" i did and then he said "return it and just buy on zalando next time :P)
But I don't understand how it is possible for the models in the picture, same size shirt, to look fantastic and me like a silk bear xD

A kimono and silk bear! Ha ha ha! :P

I bought a top from an Etsy shop once, same size as the model in the picture, and it looked great on them but I looked like an astronaut in a space suit! Ha ha! I'll never forget my boyfriend's face when I tried it on! Ha ha!

I think the photos of the models are heavily edited? But the Lilysilk blouses also look nice on influencers...I suppose those could also be manipulated for the photos/videos (pinned back or tailored before filming). It's a shame there are no unbiased reviews about the brand because you could have saved yourself a lot of effort. At least now you know it's not for you.

Hope you find something you like at COS! If they don't have your size in-store, you can always order it online when you get home. Happy shopping

I didn't know they were big with Instagrammers. I heard about them from a friend. I ordered two v-neck tanks to wear under suit jackets. The silk is good quality. They are lined with silk as well, making a double layer. The fit is somewhat boxy but that works for a tank style top. They look good on. I've washed them several times and they continue to look good. I am very happy with them and the price was good as well. Tanks are not tailored items so I think they're a safer bet than some of the other things on their site.

I have just one Lilysilk item, a black stretch silk mesh long sleeved scoop neck top I bought just for layering, via Amazon. The quality is very good and it was very nicely packaged in a box and tissue (not something I expected from an Amazon order!), and though the design is basic, it was all I needed in this case. I can imagine that cut and design could be more of an issue with blouses and shirts. Instagram is something that has completely passed me busy so I was unaware you could even get them anywhere other than Amazon, which is not exactly my go-to for clothing of any kind!

They are not big with instagram because they are great quality, but because they are just giving every single item away for free internationally. Youtubers, Instagram, you name it, they give it for promotion to every single person who wants one. Just tell them you have five subbies somewhere and you'll probably get a silk shirt free. Shameless promotion of products. I wouldn't buy the brand sight unseen but find it in-store.

First heard about Lilysilk from Jamie Chua's video, where she showed how she styles her OOTDs. I would assume she doesn't need sponsors, but I guess I was wrong, went back to the video and she has a discount code with them.

The blouses looked nice enough that I bookmarked the site to order from later. Glad I stumbled on this thread, will probably stick with Everlane or & Other Stories.

I don't believe it's great quality if 3 pieces are stitched together. maybe the quality of the silk is ok, but otherwise i wouldn't go out wearing their shirts/blouses

They've been pushing on YT for quite some time. Many Luxury/Fashion YTers keep promoting them. If suddenly a group of people start promoting a brand at once (and never having heard of it beforehand or only from time to time), be wary of the *HEAVY* sponsoring. Especially on brands never heard of before, you can't know if they'll hold up over time or are just being produced to look nice for a few washes.
Though it personally amuses me to see quite high end luxury lovers, who usually wear Dior sweaters, to suddenly start raving about brands such as these.
