From my experience, they color match what the inside is or the leather under the flap that wasn’t exposed to the elements like sun, color transfer or fading as that would be the closest to the original color. Love the bag. What year is it from?

Hi all! About to ship one of my chanel bags to Leather Surgeons. For the insurance, did you declare the amount you paid or current value of the the item? I bought my item at a lower price than what it's worth now. If my purse is lost, would UPS pay out only the amount I paid for the item or current value? Thank you!
Current value/replacement cost for insurance declaration. Always. Just in case

I had them extend one of my M/L chains to wear crossbody and they did an awesome job.
Canadians, you can use them with no problems.
Hi! I’m considering doing this with my medium cf but it’s a metallic green color and I’m worried they won’t be able to color match the leather and light gold hardware. Can I ask what color leather/hardware the bag was that you sent in for this?

I just told him I was concerned if I ever sold the bag, the certificate from them (and not to say it’s the end all be all for determining authenticity) would say pink and not nude. I could foresee someone claiming the bag was never made in pink thus questioning its authenticity.

This was my first experience with them and had heard such great things, but I can’t help but feel a little disappointed. Color matching aside, the additional touch up would be more out of my pocket since they asked me to cover the shipping. Not sure if my expectations were just crazy out of line. Maybe this is just an expensive lesson learned.

I have not used leather surgeons myself, but i have had @docride strip and remove metallic silver (basically deep fix) on a mini peltro cabat that was recolored by LS or similar. We called this recolored bag the tin man (wizard of Oz) prior to two plus rounds of paint removal and reconditioning, to give you an idea of the extensive nature of the job. I am fond of art bags and experimentation which is why I knowingly took on the project in the first place.

I would only recommend professional recoloration if such service is essential for your personal enjoyment of the bag AND if you have gotten the bag for a bargain price. Oftentimes, it is simply better to wait for a bag in better condition, even if it costs more. (I got my cabat in a sweetheart deal, and was expecting to oversee an extensive and experimental art bag project. Do NOT expect to recoup value in resale of any kind. If you have a bag recolored, even by professionals, its resale value will drop considerably. So such aftermarket work should be a labor of love only. I also feel that it is very difficult to communicate one’s expectations, and in general, UNLESS it’s recolor to black or something incredibly basic, or something totally wacky, fun and artistic, it is really best to leave well enough alone.

Shipping and insurance adds considerably to what is an expensive proposition. I always recommend insuring for replacement value if you would be upset to lose a bag, and for third party professional spa and other services, I use express next day shipping. It is VERY expensive. A professional business will have its own insurance carrier which is usually better and more discreet than purchasing insurance from a mail carrier. It usually requires double boxed packaging and labeling. JMO and YMMV

I was also wondering about this company. I have a bag with a slightly loose stitch on the front. They quoted me $145 just to tuck the loose stitch. I feel like the price is inflated. They’re not replacing anything, so idk why it would cost that much.

Hey everyone!
Does anyone know if leather surgeons would replace silver hardware (mucky, needs to be replaced anyway) on a chanel bag with gold hardware?
If not, what repair company would do this?
Thanks!
