Echoing the same with my one and only experience with Leather Surgeons on a pre-loved Chanel CC Delivery Tote which needed improved structure. I also appreciate how they polish up all of the metal chains and parts. Quick, professional and exactly as stated. If possible, I think prevention is the best measure.

My experience with Rago Brothers has been more favorable having several bags repaired and or refurbished with excellent results versus Leather Surgeons where I sent in a Chanel tote to have repairs to the shoulder strap and bag cleaning. The bag was returned with the leather being very hard, the inside lining not tacked to the interior of the bag and having the same issue with the strap which I requested repair and I haven’t even used the bag once it was returned due to the harshness of the bag...I wish you the best of luck and I hope you have better results than which I experienced.

I’m sorry about your tote. :( They didn’t attempt the repair at all, or was the repair faulty so that you had the same issue? How did they respond when you told them about the problems?

I have a Chanel WOC in need of repair and TLC. The most immediate need/damage is the sides of the flap - they have started to separate where the chain meets the flap when carrying it as a shoulder bag/crossbody, and the piping is starting to show. I've included some pictures below. In addition to this, there is just overall wear and tear and scuffed leather.

I am reaching out to Leather Surgeons, Leather Pros, Rago Brothers, and Purse Rehab for quotes. However, I was wondering if anyone had any personal experiences or reviews? I've looked at all of their websites, galleries, etc., and honestly, I'm quite impressed with them all. I obviously want to pick whoever is going to do the best job though, and that's where I'm having a hard time picking who to go with.

I did hear back from Leather Surgeons already. They said there isn't really a perfect fix because the leather is so "chewed up" in that area but that they can definitely improve the area and get it functional by grafting new leather over the damage as best as they can and then give it a spa service. Not going to lie - it makes me sad and kind of nervous that they said there isn't a perfect fix. I do appreciate the honesty; it just makes me feel like there's little hope for my WOC. I'm also not sure how to potentially take it if other places come back and say they can definitely fix it perfectly...should I take that as they are more skilled or that they are over-promising things?

Any thoughts or experiences would be greatly appreciated!

I had my timeless WOC caviar repaired by Chanel. My CA at Neiman Marcus sent it on 10/17 and I got it back on 12/20. The charge was $150. Leather surgeons and purse rehab quoted me the same price. However, my CA informed me that if Chanel doesn’t do the repair, I would never be able to get Chanel to do any future repairs on the bag.

After the repair I had the same issue and hadn’t used the tote. After speaking with the owner and at times arguing with him he has agreed to repair the item as maybe one handle was missed in the previous repair process, I just shipped it off again on Saturday. I will let you know of the outcome after this repair.
Have a great day.

I have a tiny hole in the striped fabric. Do you guys think I should send it to a bag repair or a tailor that specialises in reknitting and reweaving? Thanks!

Mark at LeatherPros is a dream to work with. I especially appreciate his communication throughout the process. He has dyed a large flap from brown to black for me (incredible results) and done some work on a vintage small black flap. I highly recommend him. He will want to see the bag before quoting you, but I find his pricing extremely reasonable.
Hi there, has your bag faded at all since you go it redyed?

I sent pictures of my Chanel bag to LS and LuvingMyBag for a quote and LMB estimated $225 while LS told me that it’s very little wear and tear of the bag from normal use and that I should hold off until it gets bad enough for a spa service. It’s very honest opinion from him instead of trying to make money.
