Has anyone used Leather CPR on box calf? Some of you may have seen my new vintage box Kelly. As can be expected, there are some scuffs on it and this morning I added three nice long ones of my own when I literally nailed the front of the bag (zinged it with three fingernails!) trying to catch it as it tipping over. :push:

I tried searching this through Google, but didn't come up with anything. Any help or advice to get rid of (or minimize) the scratches/scuffs would be appreciated.

Ok, then if you haven't done this already, I would just give the bag a nice drink with some Meltonian neutral cream if you have some (but don't do this again if you already did it) and use a dab of shoe polish *gasp* in the exact color of your bag on the scratches and buff this area like you would a pair of shoes. KWIM?

It'll help some. This is what I do when my corners get rubbed. It works like a charm!

No. Of course not....you can see I fixed my comment. You need to match the color of the polish to the bag and if you can find Meltonian or Saphir cream you'll be just fine.

I thought you were talking about a black bag, Prada. And then I remembered your gorgeous BLUE bag!!!!!!

CPR is a good product...Although, IMO it doesn't seem to give as nice results as Blackrocks Leather N Rich on Box Calf. Meltonian in a Matched color is an option but if you don't have color-loss at your scratch sites I wouldn't use it..I would just condition and buff...Your scratches should blend back into the patina :o)

Thanks, doc! I just got back from lunch and while I was home I tried some of the CPR and it's a definite improvement. The poor baby was thirsty, that's for sure! I'm going to give her a second coat this evening.

If I recall, you're the resident repair guru so let me ask you this: how many times a year should I condition the leather (with CPR since I have a huge tub of it)? This is my first box H bag, so any tips are appreciated. ;)

Howdy, Keep conditioning her until she stops sucking up the treatment..... and you can add years to her life :o) after this recondition her as needed every 6 months or so or more if you live in a very dry climate  Congrads on your gorgeous Kelly she is a stunner!
PS> 2x Obenauf's LP Heavy Duty treatment on top of your CRP will prevent water blisters when caught in rain....

Try this if you like, but Claude the master craftsman in New York, has always warned me against doing that. He felt very differently about doing this to Hermes bags.
