Good choices. I would carefully check out both before making a final decision
Yes, that's a good idea... I am definitely going to the boutiques before I make my final decision

I only have Chanel and Lady Dior of the bags you are considering and I am considering SDJ as a work bag.
Dior still is not that common to be seen but it is very difficult to compare Dior and Chanel Flap cause they just are so different, quilted/cannage.
SDJ and Picotin are the most descrete and work apropriate
Flap, Boy and LD are to be seen classics.
You perhaps need something for work and something classic for fun?
Nice pics from AverageJoe and personally love my LD even little more than Chanel.
Thanks for the response... right now I'm leaning towards the LD and the classic flap

I like the Chanel flap and the SDJ.
The Chanel flap is a timeless piece and, in my opinion, it's something every bag lover has to own.
The SDJ is more causual but I love the design.
The Picotin isn't really my style and it isn't something I'd ever consider buying. The Dior is a classic piece but I feel it's something someone older (over 60) would wear. The Chanel Boy is very trendy now but not as timeless as the classic flap.
I like the sdj, but I don't own any of these so pay no attention to me.
(I'm not really into larger patterns/textures.)
Thank you Eva and Jesssh for your much valued input!
Many people say that the Lady Dior is dressy and everything, but it's a matter of how you style it. Just like the Chanel Classic Flap can look very evening-like and dressy while going perfectly with a pair of jeans, the Lady Dior can do the same.
I have attached some pictures of Emmy Rossum, Sarah Hyland, and Miranda Kerr with their Lady Dior bags worn casually, just to show you some different styling pictures.
For the price of a used Chanel in good condition, you can get a brand new Lady Dior from the boutique with warranty and the full customer service experience![]()
I love these pictures! Thank you for sharing!
You're welcome, SeleneMarta! I also enjoyed reading the responses here.
I would really recommend going to a Chanel boutique (or department store that sells Chanel) to try the different sizes of the flap bags (M/L, Jumbo and hopefully 226 and 227 if you're interested in the reissues) and feel the leathers (caviar, lamb, distressed calfskin).
This way, you can determine what is best for you and your lifestyle. There are many caviar lovers, many lamb lovers and also distressed calf reissue lovers and it wouldn't be fair to pick one without at least experiencing them all. With Chanel, I bought and returned caviar and patent bags until I realized that lamb and distressed calfskin were what I really loved.
The classic flaps and reissues hold their value very well, so sometimes you won't see a big difference in price between new and gently preloved. I'm sure you already know to be aware of fakes, so I won't discuss those risks here. Personally, I would buy new unless I was buying from someone I know has only authentic bags or from a reputable consigner like Yoogi's or AFF. But really, if the price difference between new and preloved is only like 10%, it's worth just buying new.
Regarding caviar vs. lambskin, there are many discussions on the Chanel forum on that topic, but my two cents is that lamb isn't as delicate as some think it is and if repairs are needed, you can repair lambskin to make it look good again, but you cannot replicate the texture when you repair caviar. I think you should just buy what leather you love, not sacrifice your decision because of perceived durability.![]()
Thank you again for another very informative and helpful response! I will be trying out the bags in the boutiques before I buy, and I will get what I fall in love with
