Knife Edge versus Half-Round for Engagement Ring? HELP!

Things don't look very matchy matchy, and the knife edge band doesn't look right to me by itself - so personally I didn't want to get that band. Some woman just love things to match.

I'm currently getting an engagement ring for my girlfriend, and since I wasn't in love with the look of side diamonds on the Tiffany Novo (and they don't do style variations), I'm getting a 1.5 ct cushion cut stone set in a "Tiffany style" V prong (4 prongs) by a trusted local jeweler.

My question is, what would look better -- a knife edge on the engagement ring or a half-round? I've been going back and forth and searching the forums, so I'd love any help/advice I could get from the informed here on TPF!

Thank you all in advance!

hi! This is exactly what I’m going for and having a hard time finding inspiration for it. Do you mind posting a pic of the ring you ended up getting?

I have a knife edge and am having it reset as I type this. I never could get used it. It looked off to me when paired with my band and not much better without a band.

I have a knife edge round solitaire from Tiffany and it's very comfortable. I also have a knife edge round solitaire from White Flash and that one is not as comfortable. The band is much thicker and feels sharper on the WF ring as compared to the one from Tiffany.

I just sent my knife edge setting back to NY because I couldn’t get used to it. It was originally in a three stone setting, changed to a solitaire last month and now I have selected the Novo setting for a brilliant cut stone.
