I have the monogram key pouch and have used it almost daily for three years (first couple years I used it seldom, if at all). I know this is a lot of usage but the pouch is looking a bit worse for wear now. The Plating across the zip and on the zipper pull have completely worn off. I wouldn't mind, as it was only around 110 (EUR), but what is particularly strange is that this hasn't been a gradual thing, but a sudden thing. I pulled it out and saw that it was worn out, which I never noticed.

Is this normal? Does anyone know what metal the zipper/pulls are made from?

The monogram also looks quite faded.

Almost everything with gold hardware will have the plating wear off. It’s a normal thing with LV’s pathetic gold brass polished color hardware. I think hand sanitizer or perfumes really accelerate the process.

I see, it's a shame because I found the key pouch very utilitarian but I hate repurchasing things a second time if they wear down. The zipper and pull look almost silver in colour now. I'll have to find a similar product to replace it, perhaps from a different brand.

If you take it to your local Louis Vuitton, they can replace the zipper pull for free, usually on the spot.

The gold hardware isn’t that great, but if it wears off tremendously, take it to the store.

I would look into MCM...very much looking to buy one on my day off from work. Their gold hardware is much better. Plus it a bit roomier to fit cards and bills.

I hate waste/disposing of goods so taking it to the store is definitely on my agenda. I love the look of MCM! Definitely will check it out, I think they have sales atm...

Also the monogram print has the tendency to fade over time..cs will tell you that's normal wear and tear

Really? That's a thing? :oh: I was wondering this the other day when I noticed basically most of my monogram bags look less sharp/defined than they were. Tbh, as I've grown older I've found myself less drawn to the LV monogram, and find myself loving plain leather goods instead.

Is the mcm key pouch the same size as lv's? Would it fit in mini pa?

Edit : Nevermind. Looked it up.

Yes it's really a thing..I basically found out when I used to check out preloved sites and noticed more monograms being resold than other canvases and lot of the dated bags were in that condition. For slgs I think other brands even lower-end offer great long lasting quality at a more reasonable price...

That's such a shame really, I'm going to try to discover other brands with sturdier pieces.

First, more Monogram items are resold because the bulk of LV canvas items sold to begin with are in the Mono canvas. And second, rarely does Mono fade. It takes specific environmental conditions for that to happen.

And LV SLGs are the hardiest out there in the luxury category.
