I’d say go for it and wear it proudly. Although I understand some places are not meant for birkins to be worn at so that’ll be up to you to decide based off of your personal reasons. For that, I’d get another tote like a garden party or even a Saint Laurent Sac de Jour.

But if you want a birkin, you should get one, you deserve it!

In my neck of the woods there aren't too many Birkins around BUT in the last few years, thanks to social media and influencers, Bs have become very popular with thieves and bag snatchers: together with Rolexes it's the most snatched thing. So I'm carrying mine less and when I do I wear it facing inwards and am always aware of my surroundings. Very sad

This is my attitude: the bag may be everywhere now, but at some point, it'll likely go back to being a less popular* bag. So if you love it, get it! Safety is a totally different story, though. Where I am, I feel like most bag robberies are targeting new bags in stores, rather than purse snatchings, but that doesn't mean they don't happen. The decision to carry or not carry a bag based on personal safety has to take into account geographic location, purpose of outing, etc.

*For the record, the Birkin is a classic and will always be popular, to some extent. But I think we can generally agree that the proliferation of H in general over the last few years is, to some extent, an influencer-driven trend. At some point, that will change, and the brand will go back to being a timeless gem, rather than a must-have for everyone with a webcam and the dream of becoming a YouTube star.

i bought an LV speedy while patiently waiting for my birkin a few years ago. to this day, i love and enjoy both bags.

you can also try wearing your kelly without the long strap to get a feel for what a birkin might be like.

ps: i wear louboutins almost daily to work. in the beginning some ladies were just about sick of me lol but its my own life enjoyment and i dont have to justify it to anyone
