After asking for one for over a year now, I finally scored my Kelly Elan. Black, Chèvre with Permabrass hardware. Can’t wait to take her out for a spin. View attachment 6215817
Congrats! In many ways, I think the SKE is the most practical, versatile, and modern of the Kelly line up, and yours is particularly stunning 🤩

From the moment I saw the Kelly Elan, I wanted one. Perfect for dinner out, or if you're in a cocktails situation. I've been wanting an Hermès shoulder bag I could use instead of a Chanel WOC (I have 3 of them), and the K Elan fits the bill perfectly. Plus, it actually holds more than the Chanel WOC, for those times you need to carry a bit more.

💯. I was one of the fence sitters on the K Elan initially, but my little Vert Peppermint is SUCH a useful bag! I always take it travelling because it’s so versatile and I love the slightly 90s vibe it gives. I’ll buy another as soon as the right combination comes my way!

count me in as a fan of the KE also. While I won't add any bag any time soon, the KE in chevre would be my next bag when I buy one :D

I’ve seen many SKE in both Paris and NYC; if one has to walk around; transition from day to evening; and carry more than the MKII can hold, the SKE is one of the best, under the radar choices ever. The short shoulder carry feels secure to me, and makes the bag even more discreet :) I was really not a fan until I tried one on 😂

ETA: I am a fan of my MKIIs, but sometimes it’s nice to carry more than the barest of essentials lol

ETA: the pendulum is swinging back to bigger bags, and this is one of the few that will straddle that divide, so I consider it a modern classic. In fact if one was a minimalist, I’d say this bag and a birkin 30 could be the perfect mini collection.

I was offered a Elan in Paris a few months ago, but it was in Etoupe with the white stitching which I didn’t love in person. I feel like it’s a slightly more elevated bag so the white stitching threw me off a little bit. I’m on the fence about whether or not to add this to my wish list, but it’s certainly a beautiful style and very versatile. Love all the photos everyone has shared!

I have etoupe with white stitching and find it quite versatile. But I mainly wear it with casual attire or trousers or simple dresses (I think I posted outfits when I originally got it last year, probably page 5 of this thread) But here are others
whether this kind of bag will work with one’s wardrobe is a personal decision :)

I feel like I’m in the minority here and just can’t fall in love with my Kelly Elan. Maybe I’m just too used to my minis but it feels so large and awkward. If I use the strap, it ends up slung behind me at a weird angle that juts out and feels like I’m going to hit things and if I’m going to be tasked with hand carrying it, I’d rather reach for a KP or MK. It even feels large compared to my K25s!

Here are some pics for comparison:

Great insight, thanks @acrowcounted
I was actually wondering as I saw in picture people don't seem to hold the KE under the arm and it's often mostly behind or in front. Is it due to the middle part that pokes out? or it's just to be fashionably showing that they are wearing a KE :D
For me, I have to put my arm either in front of the touret or behind and then it pokes out one way or the other. Just feels awkward overall. Looks much better as a clutch…but I wasn’t really looking to use it as a clutch so… 😔 I’m happy to have it in my collection but I haven’t gotten much use out of it at all.

Thanks so much @hbr :) I hope you find the one that is perfect for your wardrobe too

Agree with @acrowcounted and @stupidolive re the touret issue. But, I found it more bothersome with my OG shoulder Kelly fringe bc of the heavier weight, larger HW, and increased depth. Turning hw inward against a coat or thicker layer helps alleviate.

For me, all H bags have an issue or require compromise (mainly weight of the bag which isn’t a concern here) lol 😂 The question is whether you love it enough to overlook 👀

ETA: @acrowcounted , love your taste and your comparison pics :) Hope to see more of your stunning collection :D
