Here's a new one for me: Retail stores selling outlet bags. I went by my Kate Spade outlet store this evening hoping to purchase this other gorgeous fp bag I saw there over the weekend. Of course, some other lucky person had already scooped her up. The Kate Spade sales person was really sweet and mentioned that they may have a couple of fp bags in the back. They brought out a cute, large brown bag with a price tag that read WKRU. From what I understand WKRU means it's a made for outlet bag. When I asked the sales person she seemed puzzled, because she was positive that the bag was a retail store transfer. Do the retail stores sell outlet bags now?

retail stores never have and never will sell outlet bags - the replicas are just too good now, where they look exactly the same. anything WKRU is always outlet and will never be sold in a retail store, its hard to tell even for the associates

Just to make sure I understand, you were at an outlet when the made for outlet bag was brought out, right?

Some outlet designs are very similar to a previous retail design. The outlet sales girl may have seen the retail design in a previous season in her own personal browsing and made a poor assumption on the outlet bag that came into her store.

It's also possible the shipment may have been improperly marked. I dont know how distribution works, but I wouldnt think that retail stores directly ship stock to outlets, I would guess there is a warehouse checkpoint in between.

Yeah as far as I know, the outlet items are inspired by the boutique items but most certainly not the same.

I have the bloom drive Margot bag and they are using that flower on outlet bags now. But it isn't the same bag quality.

Oh, absolutely! I have found Kate Spade sales associates to be very sweet and in love with the brand. I doubt the store informs them about how products are coded. I believe it is something that observant fans have picked up from keeping and studying their own tags.

i got this charee at the outlet a few days ago it was a full price store bag but they also made this outlet version and they are almost identical

The full price one is called the Hanover street charee and the outlet one is montrose avenue charee

I have never seen the full price one so I don't know exactly but from pictures they look the same to me. My mom got the red its gorgeous. I hate that they don't do send sales anymore.

Hi DG! I was hoping to get one of the Bloom Drive "like" bags from the Outlet but wasn't impressed with the quality either. I did get it in the cosmetic bag and wallet...although the wallet is similar to a Coach one I have so I might return it but the cosmetic bag is cute and those never stay around very long. I also picked up 2 Silver Scallop Bracelets that were $19 with 50% off so I got both for $19 and another bracelet that reminds me of the Bloom Drive print for $34 (reg. $68)

I got the birdcage coin purse and small bag from the Las Vegas outlet over the holiday weekend. The prices couldn't be beat. The items are adorable!

The Charles Street Audrey is a boutique bag that came out spring 2014. The first time I saw a Brantley I thought it was Audrey in new fall colors. I love that style bag! If they are appearing in outlets I may need to make a trip!

Yeah the quality was lacking on the bloom drive outlet version. I thought about getting the wallet but still on the fence about it.

But other items at the outlet store are really great quality. And really like the scarves they have.
