Reviving. Since y'all have had it for over a year now can you share pictures of how it's patina'd? I ordered the bag in store but am having second thoughts on the smooth leather scratching.

I bought it in woven design. Front smooth part is still okay. The back was all smooth and it definitely has some scratches. But it doesn’t look bad. It still looks pretty. Whenever I wear it I get compliments. And this is one of my favorite bags in my collection. Also it’s a great crossbody bag. If you like the design but concerned about scratches you can get it in croc embossed.7AD03A36-281F-4213-951B-E15B08A8E7C3.jpeg

Hi all—not sure where to put this on here, but does anyone own the raffia Kaia bag? How is it holding up? What does it fit? I don’t believe this is the smaller size, so I guess it’s the regular? Thank you!

How’s everyone’s vegetable tanned leather Kaia holding up? I’m still afraid to bring her out because she’s so sensitive and I haven’t seen anyone’s patina like the SA said it would.

I don't have the Kaia but have a YSL veg-tanned bucket bag. I got it preloved so it had already started to patina a bit. The only way to develop patina is to use it, so don't just leave it sitting in your closet!

When I got mine, I gave it a good rub-down with Leather CPR...I think most any quality leather conditioner would work. Leather guru Docride in the Hermes forum recommends Meltonian All Purpose, Lexol PH cleaner and Saphir universal for H vache natural which is their version of a veg-tanned leather. This removed all dirt and smoothed out minor scratch marks. Then I gave it a good coat of Applegarde water repellent for some extra protection.

Since then I've been using almost daily and she's doing great! I got caught in the rain and the water marks just evaporated to nothing after a few minutes. I wore her with dark denim and there was some blue marks where it rubbed on my jeans, but it just totally wiped off with a baby wipe (Docride says to use a damp cloth, not baby wipes). I leave her out in the sunshine sometimes to darken a bit but it will be a gradual process. She is now a beautiful honey color and so soft to the touch

Enjoy your Kaia!!!
