K color diamond best set in yellow or white gold?

I just saw on PS an 18k WG unplated 3 stone ring that’s TDF! I’m now a huge fan of unplated 18k WG. I think the center diamond is K color too, but not sure.

If you want the ring to be more traditional or formal, set the ring North-South. If you want it to have a hipper, more modern vibe, East-West is the way to go.
I would be careful with the rose versus yellow gold on the setting. I would definitely see if you can pop the stone in a temporary setting of each color to see which one appeals to you most.
If it were me, I would want to bezel set that stone east west or do something like this ring (It's a much smaller stone.)View attachment 4732545

This ring is gorgeous. What are the stones?

I ended up going with rose gold and no side stones. Thank you everyone for the input. While I don’t think the rose gold makes the center stone look more white, I feel like the new setting matches better with the stone and my style. The diamond was set very low profile, where as in the prior setting it stood up very high, which bothered me. I have come to realize it was mainly the mismatch of the side stones being so much whiter with the center which mainly bothered me. I love the new setting!

Yes - setting the diamond in yellow gold w/o side stones would've been my instinct. I think the yellow gold will contrast with the K-colored diamond and make it appear whiter.

Or, if you want to keep the side stones, maybe swap in yellow diamonds or sapphires? That would also make the center stone appear whiter.
I like this idea, I also think maybe chrysoberyl, quartz, citrine or apatite could be a nice choice for yellow side stones. There are so many yellow gemstones to choose from! There’s a gorgeous stone called diaspore which changes from yellow to a warm peach or orange colour under fluorescent(?) light.
OP, my personal opinion is that as i*bella said you need something warmer on either side of your diamond if you keep it in WG. K coloured stones can be beautiful, but they do need warmer settings and/or warm coloured accent stones to offset the colour when set in a white metal. I also love the idea of having it reset in YG.
I was going to say the same thing. I have seen K stones in WG and plat and they look beautiful. But if you are going to have side stones they would need to be Ks or Js or even beautiful L. Definitely not much higher in color. EC stones are one of my all time favorite stones. They don’t mask clarity or color very well but in the right setting that EC will shine all on its own. GL enjoy the stone!
I have an old european cut diamond in K...I first had it set in platinum with whiter side stones and the while I loved the cut of the diamond, the warmer tint bothered me. I had it reset in 18k yg and it is amazing how different the stone looked. I like 18k because it is such a deep yellow. My friends actually thought it was a different diamond. Then I got an OEC H stone for my other platinum setting and it looks gorgeous. The tone of the metal really changes things.
I have never subscribed to the theory that band metal color affects stone color/warmth. The only things that will accentuate the warmth of the stone are lighting and angle. I would go with the metal that you feel looks best with your skin tone.

The stone is fabulous. I'm very color sensitive, but I still love a warm stones. I think that to some extent people have been brainwashed by the industry to regard warmer diamonds as inferior which is ridiculous.
Gorgeous stone!
The center stone in my engagement ring is a J~K (let’s just say the scheisty jeweler that I found sold it to us as an H, but that’s a different story) colored EC, and it’s set in platinum. I personally am not a fan of yellow gold (doesn’t quite work with my skin tone), but I also don’t think that a white colored metal will make a K colored stone look more yellow. Enjoy your beautiful new rock!
Here is the reset emerald cut in rose gold with a multicolor gemstone band I just received today. I wanted to stack it with a band with more than just rose gold, but didn’t want to have to worry about another color mismatch with a diamond band. Thanks again for all the great advice!58D0A01C-9370-4B12-85F2-3313D14CEF00.jpeg
