Soo I was shopping around local jewellery stores on Saturday looking for a cameo ring. I didn't find the cameo ring (was told I probably never would because they aren't popular). One store COULD special order one for me but it would cost an arm and a leg, so I didn't bother because I can't afford it right now being a student...Luckily I spotted this beauty instead and decided to treat myself :)
It was on sale :yahoo: ...downside is that it isn't my birthstone, they didn't have anything nice in my birthstone, but who cares right? It's blue topaz, smokey quartz, and diamond. I love how it has a vintage-y feel to it. I can't get a good pic of the side, but it has these neat cut out details on the side of the setting that I LOVE!!

Its a gorgeous ring - well done!!

Thanks :) I'm a little paranoid wearing it! It's the first ring I have owned that has a higher setting and large stones. All my other rings sit pretty flat to my hand or they have small stones with small/low settings. It's sooo sparkly in real life I love how the topaz is cut. I have no idea what cut it is though?!

Absolutely gorgeous!! I love it! I've wanted a ring like that for some time but I've had trouble finding it in gold..

I wasn't even shopping...err I mean I wasn't SUPPOSED to be shopping because I have school bills to pay LOL This one was too good a price to pass up. Though I am still unsure if I want to have it resized or not...It's a 7 and it's a tad big, but it's not going to fall off or anything. I am worried if I have it downsized I will have issues getting it on and off in the summer. I know my other ring I wear on my ring finger was sized from a 5 to a 5 1/2 and in the winter it drives me crazy spinning around on my finger, but in the summer it's just right. I may just wear it for the winter and see what it's like in the summer before I decide for sure.

Regarding the cameo ring. Might I suggest you check your local pawn shops. I went to one after reading all the great deals people were getting on a thread that was posted here. I was amazed at how cheap they were going for. It was selling for just the gold weight and they subtracted some out because of the cameo. Can you imagine? It could have been an true antique even made with real ivory. Anyway, it wouldn't hurt to check one out. Congratulations on your beautiful ring! I really like the intricate details and of course the sparkle ;)

The cut (shape) of the center stone is a modified "checkerboard" cushion cut....a cushion that has been faceted across the top. Blue topaz does have a great sparkle.

The filigree-ish scroll detailing on the gallery is definitely fitting for your vintage-ish vibe. :)
