Hi Lux ladies.Hello Lux Beauties, I recently acquired a vintage 2008 Chanel Medium Flap and observed that the termination leather point does not extend into the chain. Is this a standard feature for vintage Chanel handbags and the thread also is coming loose. I would appreciate your insight. Thank you so much.

It’s just the kinda sloppy way Chanel finishes their straps. You don’t see it from above so it’s not something you’ll notice while wearing it.
This is a common question for first time owners as you see the question asked over and over again on TPF.
Chanel isn’t a leather goods house so their finishing is questionable at times but the bags are very pretty and that’s what matters most. Enjoy your new bag! You’ll stop noticing it within days and enjoy your bag for years to come!

Thank you so much for this. I’m worried because the leather is short and doesn’t extend to the chain which vintage bag and new bag does.
It’s stiff, but I usually don’t like a flexible top handle as they look sloppy to me. For example, I just don’t like the look of the mini rectangles with top handles. So, it is stiff, but maybe just personal preference? The top handle also doesn’t lay against the body, so the stiffness isn’t an issue from that perspective.
