Jonathan Anderson confirmed to lead Dior Men's:

PARIS — Jonathan Anderson will create the June collection for Dior Men’s Fashion, LVMH CEO Bernard Arnault said on Thursday at the group’s annual meeting with shareholders.

Anderson, 40, whose departure from LVMH’s smaller label Loewe was announced on March 17, is one of a new generation of high-profile designers taking over some of the world’s biggest fashion labels amid a sweeping industry overhaul.

The sector is grappling with some of its slowest growth in years, weighed down by China’s property crisis while rising prices have deterred shoppers from splashing out on new fashion.

Anderson is credited with boosting the profile of Loewe during his tenure at the Spanish label, where he won over fashion critics with original and quirky designs.

Brand hits from Anderson include 800-euro barrel-legged jeans and the compact, over-the-shoulder Puzzle bag, which sells for around 3,000 euros.

The Irish native has won a host of awards, including British designer of the year in 2023 and 2024 for his work at Loewe as well as his namesake brand JW Anderson.

He has built a loyal fan base, drawing an eclectic mix of international artists into the annual Loewe craft prize competition, and famously restyled James Bond actor Daniel Craig in wholesome sweaters and baggy trousers for a buzzy Loewe campaign.

LVMH on March 24 named Proenza Schouler designers Jack McCollough and Lazaro Hernandez to replace Anderson at Loewe.

Exciting but expected news. I just hope LVMH doesn’t drain every bit of creative energy out of him. That’s 10 collections a year—4 men’s RTW, 4 women’s RTW, and 2 haute couture. He’s probably one of the few new talents who can handle that kind of pressure, but I hope these fashion houses have learned something by now, and we won’t see yet another burned-out, overworked designer. Sadly, there are already too many couturiers who’ve fallen victim to the profit-churning machine (Galliano and Alber Elbaz come to mind immediately).

Im also just catching up to this news but I think it’s very exciting. A fresh take on Dior and might send them in a different direction, perhaps a step away from the logo prints. The engineering and design behind the puzzle bag range is fantastic, and the JW Anderson bags are beautiful too. I hope he is a huge success at Dior. I wonder what he’ll do with the Lady Dior?

I'm actually not sure if this is new or existing Dior but it appeared in the Dior PR head's IG this week in celebration of the new men's collection so I should think new. If so, I'm excited for revamps of signature Dior bags which have just been recycled so much.

I'm new-ish to actually paying attention to the runway calendar - is it mandatory that brands also always do resort and pre-fall collections? It sounds truly very demanding 😅 10 collections is almost one per month.

I was not impressed with his first collection. It looked rather basic and juvenile, it reminded me too much of Loewe. Where is the mature sophisticated Dior man?! While I wasn't very into Raf's tenure at Dior, after seeing this I'm yearning to go back in time when Raf was designing at Dior, that was so much more interesting than this. Hopefully he does better with the womenswear collection, but I wouldn't put my money on it.
