Well, when they write silver and the pic is a cut out so you can't see the surroundings of the item you can't say what the metallcolour is.
On my screen it did not look like gold. Once that I know it is gold it looks like gold.
But nevertheless it is not my fault.

I just downloaded the pictures, let me put them up, because against the white background it really does look like gold, maybe they compared the pictures?

Some pages only have "metallic" as description, which is really annoying.

Why don't you call them again on Monday? It is August and usually in August France just grinds to a halt, they might be totally and utterly understaffed?

What's the point of that?
The description is wrong and of course I built on that .
It is easy to tell it is gold when you know it. It could have been also silver. It depends on the light in wich the pic is taken.

Sure I will call them again. Again and again.

Might just be me but if something looks like brass, it can't be silvery even if they write silvery, so asking would have been the simple thing, since you said you looked at it for a while. You don't think that a simple question might have sorted this out.

And if you are dealing with French companies, the whole tantrum because they don't reply when about everybody and their dog is on holiday in August and they might be totally understaffed, August and France grinding to a halt is pretty commonly known. No they are not ignoring you, they might be busy due to staff shortages, that happens in August.

Yes the seller should not have put in silvery, but yes, it utterly and totally looks like bras and that half a minute to ask "is the colour really silvery" would really not be much efford. That they let an item through that looks like the pictures and assumed the silver was a mistake as the pictures clearly show it in a brass colour, I understand that, would have been better if they would have checked with you first, but they possibly assumed that you bought according to the pictures. But honestly, unless you take pictures of silver by candlelight (which does not bode well for the quality), it will never have that brassy sheen.

They usually are really eager to put everything right and have always been helpful with every problem, as I mentioned in the DM, one of their founders was super helpful with a bug where items were uploaded twice, but August in France is a bit like the time between X-mas and New Year in Germany, it is not a holiday month, it is THE holiday month where basically most offices are closed.

Seriously, this totally reminds me of a dress I sold, where I took pictures in just about every conceivable light, with flash, without flash, outside, inside, close up, because red can be such a difficult colour, mentioned that it is a true red, passed VC control without a hitch, buyer left nasty notes because she thought it was a different red, she wanted more pink on her monitor it showed as more pinkish. I didn't adjust her monitor.

These pics look silver to me. On my screen. I would have been deceived too. I also don’t think it is helpful to lecture @Sferics about why she didn’t ask to confirm. I wouldn’t have asked either. The description said silver, it looks silver on my screen, why ask? They made a mistake in their listing and she should get a prompt refund and an apology.

Also. If a French company seriously wants to do business worldwide, esp in the US where we expect a certain level of customer service, they ought to make sure to be staffed even in August. It’s not like between Christmas and New Years, which everyone, in the entire world, knows is a slow time because it’s a worldwide holiday season.

Thank you!

I am really tired of being lectured about the colour and all the red herrings.

They did the refund without much communication and no statement but te time frame was ok.
At least I have my money back, so I would give them a second chance and buy again.

@Gabs007
You might not believe but this chain is silver:

Have some points to add if anyone else would want to deal with Joli Closet.

I do not not recommend them based solely on my experiences.

1. Tried to sell a couple of items and there was no interest. My items were for sale on Joli Closet (JC thereafter) for months and not one offer, maybe one or two likes, whereas the same items on other platform received much more interest. I’m wondering if it’s due to slow traffic on JC site?

2. I Bought a ring from JC. Was advertised as ‘never worn’. when it arrived it was obviously worn, visible even without my loupe; ring also had a loose stone which fell out. I got in touch with JC right away and twice before they even replied. They accepted item back for inspection. Long story short. It took 2 months of calling and emailing - me chasing after JC that is - to get a decision and in the end they wanted to charge me for a repair! I finally used a charge back option with my cc company. It was the only way to get my money back.

Both my experiences with JC were bad and I stopped dealing with them completely.

Sales are super slow, you get offers that are unreasonable, then offers people don't follow up, lately also issues with them, I think some items sell well with them, others not so much, communication is not their strong point. It is OK as an additional listing platform as you might sell the odd item, they also sometimes have items that are not listed on other platforms, I certainly wouldn't list exclusively on them.

I know this is an old thread, but hopefully this helps anyone considering selling on Joli Closet.

I have purchased from them in the past and had positive experiences (I purchased chanel earrings and a celine cardigan - both were great). I really liked that they quality checked/authenticated every purchase - it wasn't optional add-on (like it is on VC). The big selling point for me was that they are the intermediary both directions to the buyer and back to you in case there are any issues. Given how many of the buyer swap scams I had heard about on ebay/VC/PM (seller sends buyer an authentic item, buyer claims it's fake, platform forces return, and buyer swaps your authentic item and returns a fake) I really liked the extra security JC seemed to offer.

I listed a few items, and in November 2023 - i had my first sale (chanel beanie). I sent it off to Paris to JC and it passed quality control and was sent to the buyer. As I write this on February 1, 2024 -- I still haven't been paid. I've sent multiple emails and still nothing. Based on the comments on their IG, I'm not the only one struggling to get a response. I'm USA based (they are in Paris) so I basically have no recourse. Will update if this is ever resolved -- needless to say, I've de-listed my other items.

TL;DR: Sellers beware. You may not get paid for items you sell

Did you ever get paid @luxetherapy ?

I bought an item through them and was happy with the experience. There was no room for offers though... That's so strange!
I finally got paid in September 2024. I wrote a review on TrustPilot in February as a last resort, and they finally reached out to me late August/September. I've decided to just stick with selling on Vestiare and Ebay - I've had good luck with both sites this past year.
