Can anyone recommend a good jeweler in NYC? I am on the search for a great pair of diamond studs among other things. I am looking for the cheapest prices possible without sacrificing quality so if you ladies have recommendations please post!

Thank you:)

My DH had my eternity band made at Deena Jewelers on 47th & Fifth Ave. They did a gorgeous job and worked with us to get the E colored stones so they matched my engagement ring. I was a little bit nervous dealing with someone we didn't know but their reputation and the fact they've been in business for 30 years made me feel so much more at ease. I first found their ebay store and then called and went to NYC to talk to them in person. If you want I'll pm you their ebay name, not sure if it would violate any rules if I mentioned it in the forum.

Good Old Gold is very close to me. We went in there to look at loose stones for my e-ring. They were mobbed on the weekends and we werent too happy with the service, but maybe if you go during the week things would be better. I've heard great things about them, but I had a pretty negative experience.

Go to bluenile.com. I know you probably want to visit a physical location, but this place is going to have the best prices ounce per ounce than any other retail jeweler. I've heard very good things! They accept about a 10% profit margin, very low in a 300% industry! And other jewelers (Tiffany, Cartier, Bvlgari) take an 300-1000% as the norm.

Look around for a while though. You might find something you love at the right price in New York.

Blue Nile is a drop-shipper which means the diamonds are not in their possession, unless they have been returned by the buyer. There are other online diamond vendors who actually have the stones in stock (goodoldgold.com is one) and can tell you all about it. Blue Nile will just take your money, send to you, and let you figure it out.

Blue Nile actually has really high prices compared to all of the Pricescope recommended vendors.

MY fiance and I used Abazias for my solitaire GIA e ring diamond (Pricescope) and they do not drop ship.....they will inspect the diamond with you over the phone and ship it out. They will not even charge your credit card until you see it in person and decide you want it! The diamond and prices and service were just beyond amazing!

OP, any time you go to a brick and mortar jeweler, you will be paying a premium.....the only way to buy a diamond is online these days IMO.;)

Try Minasyani! I know the guy that owns it, he's great to deal with. You won't be disapointed, he custom designs alot of things and it's amazing. Here's the website: minasyani.com ... shows the address and everything.

I would also say Good Old Gold. I've never bouhgt from them, but I have read 1000's of posts on Pricescope about them and their fantastic diamonds.
I am actually buying my replacement E-ring from them. So far it's been great. Just have to wait for new stones from the brand of stone I want.

My wedding set was stolen a little over a month ago. So I am replacing my Engagement ring. I had a .86ct Star129 diamond in a (ridiculously heavy and poorly made) Cathedral Setting which I am replacing with another (much nicer) Cathedral setting and another Star129 diamond probably in the 1.1-1.25ct range when an acceptable one comes in. They expect more stones in the 2nd week of November from GIA Grading so we/I get first dibs. I am hoping that produces the winner.
