Jessica Simpson's line of bags - opinions

By the time her royalty is included the markups make it impossible to use quality materials and hit a $100 pricepoint. I have worked on "celebrity" lines *cough* house of dereon *cough* in the past and this was the overwhelmingly difficult issue from the designers standpoint.

I freelance through 24seven in NYC. Ive done work for Dereon, Henri Bendel, Tommy Hilfiger, Ralph Lauren, Old Navy and several private label handbag designers. They are great for building your resume. You need to have an art background but I started doing handbags exclusively last year and they keep me really busy. (although you'll never make more than $25/hr!)

I personally would not carry or buy her bags. They don't have the panache or haute couture air attached to them, and I would rather save up and buy an authentic Chloe or Balenciaga than to carry a tacky fake.

not a fan of her handbags but i do really love her line of shoes. not all of them, but most are okay. i have a pair of her boots from a couple of years ago and they get the most compliments out of all the boots that i have. --- and i have tons.

I'm petty and won't buy her stuff because I find her incredibly irritating, but I admit that I've thought some of her styles were cute before I realized the brand. However, I agree with others that her bags and shoes seem expensive given the materials used. I'd rather pay a similar price for some well-made but generic.

I like the look of some of her bags but I would not buy any unless they were on some sort of super sale. I bought a pair of her sunglasses last summer and they lasted about 2 weeks and the metalworks holding the arm on just popped right off so the craftsmanship is poor for the price.

I don't think I would buy any of her line either. I've seen some of her shoes IRL and thought they were nice until I picked them up and saw her name on the shoe. How much do her bags run?

I wear quite a few pairs of her shoes. I like them and I buy them for that reason--because I like them. Not because of the name attached or not attached to them. IMO it's shallow to be completely influenced or to make choices based solely upon the name attached to the brand...especially since most of the time, the name of a "celebrity" is just an add-on. Not because they make the line. Her bags, maybe not, I'm not that into them. The quality for handbags and the styles--not my type but not because it's "by her." So if someone likes it, then good for them, to each their own. No love lost and besides, who cares what others think? If it makes someone happy, that's all that really matters, at least they are happy. The ones who are negative and gripe about it are the ones wasting their time thinking about it. That's their bad. Just my honest opinion.

the ones I've seen IRL I have not been impressed with, plastic and a gigantic JESSICA SIMPSON signature on the bottom... tacky. I saw one I fell in love with from a distance at Macys a few months back that was like a fake lizard and leopard, but up close the leopard looked like a plastic tablecloth. The lining was a gingham fabric which didnt match at all. They look great online but I dont think theyre worth the money quality wise. If I wanted one I'd wait for a sale or at least check it out IRL first....

Yes that what I have found. I have seen a few metalic bags of hers in TKs (USA TJs) and I have liked the look but by the time I have got to the cashier, they have been dumped. The bold brassy sig spoils them when it could have been a random js on a button or a zipper. I like metalics though and will always be attracted but now my real leather metalic bag is on its way without massive branding labels.
