Almond nail shape (see below) is now the standard nail shape. An alternative is coffin nail shape. Square shaped nails like in the 90's have not been popular for a long time.

Short nails are also heavily in-vogue, especially for American nail art, which is simpler and less ornate than the typical long Japanese/Korean almond nails. When in doubt, there's nothing wrong about veering towards shorter classier nails rather than long, acrylic nails.

I'm living for this hue of orchid blue-purple. (It's perfect for the instagram-er who is a spring type. And this cool-toned nail polish color should also work for winter types if the color value were a little higher).
