Thanks for the report from the front lines. I just arrived and am therefore in the BACK line and am trying to figure out whether I want to bother. Haven't seen the line this long for several years now. Do you remember which season they have out for scarves? It's been irregular the past several sales so I'm not assuming anything based on past patterns!

I'm not sure which seasons they have. Nothing newer than two years ago, a mix of stuff besides.

IMG_1484143252.034372.jpg Today's haul from Hermès sample sale. Only things for me are shoes, most of the neckties and one of the scarves. The rest is for colleagues and friends. Haul includes 2 pairs of shoes, 3 scarf rings (two enamel and one gold), ten 90 cm silk scarves, one maxi twilly, two 140 cm silk/cashmere shawls and 7 neckties. Will post better pics later.

Thank you for all your help and up to date info David! You're like our cnn for the Hermes sale ;)

You're the best !!

This is my first time. I have to say WOW and in the meantime, I am totally broken now.

My lady friend and I were able to be done with shawls and scarves by 10:45 or so. Then we saw the bracelet line was extremely long so we gave up. There were also many people at shoe counter. I didn't find anything I would be interested. Here is what we bought (price below is per piece):

6 shawls (3 each of us). 550 euro
17 scarves 90cm (7 of my friend and 10 of mine including a couple for my friend who couldn't come). 199 euro
3 scarves 70cm (mine) 159 euro
2 twilllies (mine) 84 euro
1 bandana (mine) 96 euro
1 pouch (mine) 113 euro
1 pair of gloves (my friend). 200ish

The event is very well organized and the experience is good and we think we may come back next year.

However, there are some lessons learned:
1) Make sure not to lose that piece of white paper (a form) given you when entering the sale. Put your name on. SAs write down your name and the # that comes with your form on the paper bag after put the scarves or shawls you selected, and also write quantities on the white paper/ form. Make sure you get your form back and hold onto it, as you will need it when paying at cashier. My friend did not know she's supposed to hold onto the form. Her form was misplaced twice which almost caused her not being able to buy.

2) Make sure the amount on the receipt is correct. One of the 70s I bought had wrong tag for 372 euro instead of 159 and I didn't notice until checked out. I had to talk to securities and a few other employees before re-enter the hall. It took a while for them to give me credit back.

I am pretty happy with what I found. It seems scarves and shawls are from a few different seasons, some new and some old. I will post pictures soon.

Darma, do you mind asking what time you started to queue today? I'm hearing there are definitely many many more people than past events, I want to be there when I can finish with scarves around the time you've done today! I'm already giving up on bracelets....

That line was a circle of hell. I met someone at sale today who was about 120th in the overall line, she went straight to jewellery and still had to wait in line for an hour before she was seen. The problem is that each shopper in that line gets their own SA and can spend as long as they want with them. People are spending 45 minutes with their SAs when they finally get seen so the line is barely moving.

90 cm line on the other hand was very rushed, I only had 10 minutes or so and just had to grab stuff at the end to hit my limit of 10 scarves. It was definitely less time in that line than I have had at earlier sales.

And it was very crowded today. I had to queue to pay, that had never happened to me before.

That sounds horrible. Last time queued for bracelets (last year this time), everyone was allowed for only 5 minutes (!!) to see them. I was so in a rush I couldn't see everything. I thought they control those times depending on how many are in the queue...
