Thanks, alnblue! I'm afraid I don't have a weighing scale handy to weigh my James hobo, so I can't give you an exact answer re: weight. I will say, though, that the comfort of the bag on the shoulder depends on how you carry it. Using the rolled handle, it's a little uncomfortable when fully loaded up, as the rolled handle really isn't all that ideal as a hobo strap, IMHO. It's fairly comfortable if I'm going a little lighter, though, so if you carry less than I typically carry, this might not be an issue. (For your reference, this is what I usually carry in my bags. If I'm going light, I'll usually omit the book, a couple of the reusable bags, the FM transmitter, and maybe the iPod itself too.)

It's definitely far more comfortable to carry it using the shoulder strap vs. using the rolled handle. The weight isn't as noticeable that way, unless you wear it cross-body. (Scroll upthread for my comments about wearing it cross-body!) Overall, I'd say the James hobo is probably of average weight for a leather bag, not as light as some lambskin bags, but not amongst the heaviest I've encountered either. (That "honour" goes to Treesje, whose bags are usually fairly heavy!) So sorry again for the lack of a definitive answer, but I hope this helps a little!
