I LOVE mother of pearl so much. Is there a reason to own the white gold set IF i already own yellow gold?
IMO MOP look more striking against YG/RG than WG. WG certainly gives off a different aesthetic and I noticed they use MOP with iridescence that leans cool (pink/blue) on the WG pieces. It depends on how much you want the WG version and what you consider to be a set. I'm not a super matchy person and would just get 2 pieces in the same metal/stone combo as a set before I venture into something different, but there are others who like to go all out from collecting the earrings, necklace, bracelet, ring, etcs to wear as a set.

If you can afford to keep your yellow gold pieces and have room for them, I would agree to keep them for now and add some white gold pieces. Personally, I think all the metals look nice on me so I have various pieces ( not necessarily vca) in wg, rg and yg and wear what I'm in the mood of that day / matches my clothes best.
I totally agree with this sentiment. I sometimes find that my clothes and other accessories/purse/scarves may make certain colored metals more cohesive and not totally what looks best right next to my skin especially if worn over a blouse/dress/or sweater. Regardless of your current mood and can swing it, I would keep your current collection. Reselling is often at a loss and rebuying is always more expensive in the future

From my experience… I’d say it depends on what you’re buying and what you’re wearing it with. What ideas do you have?
i have the yellow gold vintage Alhambra set and really want the white gold because of the tones and how it may go with my skin and hair - just trying to figure out if redundant - which I guess I know it is in my heart. Will keep it on my wishlist - and thank you for the nice reply.

I’ve had those thoughts before but I’ve learned it’s best to stick with something you can build on without it being super expensive

I have worn wg/plat/silver for many many years and only started with yg when I got my first Love bangle as I felt I want the "original classic" Love. From there I continued with all my jewelry pieces in yg. And I do wear a mix of both now. Watch and engagement ring/ wedding band in "silver" tones and most bangles in yg, mixed with wg pieces inbetween. And I love it.

I have gone through a white gold phase, then yellow gold, then rose gold, and right now I'm really into white gold again. I hoard, so I have all the golds, and I just wear whatever suits me that day. Build your white gold collection as you can. If you need to sell some older yg pieces to fund, I would suggest keeping some you love, in case you want a change now and then.
lol I'm the same exact way. I totally hoard...right now I'm in my Rose Gold phase. I don't really sell my jewelry unless I truly don't want to ever wear a certain piece again. I keep mostly everything because you never know what will tickle your fancy down the road.

Hello,

I woke up this morning and the intrusive thoughts instantly hit me. I wanted to ditch my yellow gold collection and start building the white gold.
Don't ditch anything. There's a good chance you may have a change of heart down the road and by then the pieces that you've let go of have doubled in price. Just buy what you want to buy now and leave your YG collection in the back burner...one day you'll wake up and appreciate their allure again. :winkiss:

If you haven't considered colour analysis and what's the most flattering jewellery for your skin tone, I would definitely take that into consideration before making big decisions about new collections. Just so you don't end up getting some expensive pieces and then finding out that according to color theory they are the worst choices for your skin tone and make you look dull and gaunt.

Of course, if it makes your heart sing then who cares if it's not the most flattering according to some rules. But often when people hear from a professional which one is their most flattering shade, gold or silver, they will start to see it themselves too and gravitate toward that.
