I waited until I found one at a good price! I got my black goat small ant from ****** for $1,430 with a coupon! Hopefully it will arrive next week as promised.

I am going to Vegas for Christmas and will check out the Belt collection at the Crystal boutique! It is indeed much cheaper than the Luggage. I just don't feel like paying 3K for a bag that will be dated in a year or two. Maybe I will haul one home if I like it enough. We will see. :smile1:

Congrats on your new small ant!! I have the medium in croc nubuck and I have to say I'm a big big fan of all things ant! I definitely see it as more of an 'it' bag than the fendi 2jours, which seems more of a 'classic' work bag to me - you know something that isn't necessarily popular enough to be an 'it' bag but high enough in looks and practicality to be useful for work for a long time. I don't like the open shape of the 3jours and the size was too big for me, but the petit 3jours I can see growing on me...

And ITA about some of the YSL/Saint Laurent bags - some of them are very attractive looking still, but just too impractical unless you have a car service :P

As for Celine...I'm sure there are a lot of Celine luggage lovers who would say absolutely worth it - and the smaller sizes may not have the heavy weight problem. But i don't like hand carry only bags and imo the instant recognizability of luggage bags with that front zipper will also date them faster as it seems to reach oversaturation point. But that depends on where you live - in a city where celine isn't as common, could be less of a problem. And of course, if you love it and have tried it on in stores, who am I to dissuade you ;) I'm still considering a smaller trapeze if the right combo comes up in the future...

Have you tried on the belt bag though? I don't see it as edgier than the givenchy ants and it really hits a lot of good points with me on the design, size, and practicality - plus it's much cheaper than luggage at 2350 (sad that price is 'cheaper' nowadays...)

]Most of the big brands (PRADA, givenchy, Gucci, miu miu, fendi, celine etc) will be dated in a year or two, as they are so overexposed. Anyone serious about buying classic, would do well to look into smaller, medium priced lesser known brands... Or vintage. Vintage are not for everyone, but if it's your look they never go out of fashion -,as they are already out of fashion..

If you like the double zips feature, how about Chanel cert tote or GST? I used to think compartments are necessary for my bags (now I am used to bag inserts), and once bought the Prada double zip you are thinking of. I returned it and bought the cert tote at the end. However, I do think both bags are quite classic and will be around for a while. They may not be the IT bag again, but they will have their place.

I think the Celine luggage is already dated. I prefer the Trapeze now, but I'm trying not to buy a "winged" bag (even the 3jours which I love) since that trend is feeling stale. I think in two years they'll be officially dated.

+1 totally agree! When every brand has a version, it is officially over.

I love the comment about vintage bags! Totally true...in all senses!:smile1:

Ooooo That's a great price! and for a classic color too! Looking forward to modeling pics in the Givenchy Ant threads perhaps?

And Vegas sounds so wonderful now that it's finally getting cold here in the NE - definitely try it on and compare with luggage. The tan/fuschia combo is my favorite, but aside from my self-imposed bag limit, I'm also not sure how comfortable I am with the pink-ness of the lining for everyday use. I also have to say I don't like the clasp on the Belt, it's quite difficult although some say you get used to it quickly...

Yes I will do a mod shot when I receive it but still no sign of shipment yet. :nogood:

Erica said ants are in high demand so the order processing is very slow.

+2 I agree Celine luggage looks dated to me now too. Never see them on the fashion blogs anymore.

I agree with some people that have already said that the big brands will be outdated within a few years. I think if you have to settle for something within the big brands, get something that is not as instantly recognizable. The double zip for example would be a classic as it is simple in design. The Celines I agree are over saturated and it's starting to look a bit dated. I really like the direction that Fendi is taking so maybe have a look at them? Good luck in deciding!!

I agree that many of the bags will be outdated in the coming years but that goes for all brands. I feel that all companies are trying to push the envelope with each subsequent season in hopes of creating a hyped bag, but it's not sustainable. I'm glad that menswear doesn't cycle much!

I never ever thought I'd buy a Celine luggage but when I had the chance, after holding it, I just could not give it back. Love it & sooo versatile. I agree that the hotness is cooling but still don't regret my choice. Whatever makes you happy

The *IT* bag for fall 2014 into next year is clearly the MG bucket bag. Which is refreshing considering the price difference between it and say a Celine Luggage! I like that no logo and low key is the hot bag to get your hands on now. Plus it's such a simple classic design it will never be "out" per se.
