Issues with Beaded Lady Dior

Hi everyone!
I bought my first Dior Bag in December. I saw the beautiful crystal beaded Lady Dior and I knew it would be the bag to start of my Dior collection on the right note.

I own many beaded bags from Fendi, Sequins, Crystal are nothing new to me. So far I never had issues. So when my Dior SA said the bag is under warranty to get beads and crystals replaced for 2 years for free I thought not much of it. I thought I wouldn’t need that anyway and if yes maybe in around 2 years or so for one maybe 2 crystals.

Fast forward 6 Months Later, I noticed several crystals obviously missing. I only wore the bag twice, 2 times for dinner. From my house to the restaurant. Yesterday I noticed color was coming of the handle. I couldn’t believe my eyes. The bag cost 7‘100 Swissfrancs (I believe around 7‘800 dollars). I texted my SA that I had this issue and he said they will send it to paris but I would much rather have store credit to get something else. I don’t feel comfortable carrying this bag anymore knowing this can happen so fast. I hope they will allow store credit because otherwise I will be beyond disappointed. I buy my bags to use them, not for display. I knew it was not an everyday bag, more like a special occasion. However I think these issues are bad for a bag only carried twice, especially for this pricepoint I feel this is unacceptable. What do you guys think?

Does anyone have that bag and how’s it going?

So disappointing, I hope they come through for you. I think metallic leather is prone to issues ( not necessarily Dior's just in general).

I hope so too. I brought it in to the Boutique today after work and he said the same thing, paris will decide. They have to send it in. I really hope I can exchange it...

I‘m beyond disappointed because this is my first dior bag and I really loved the unique look but you are right it may be a metallic leather problem.. I just know for a fact that I will always be thinking about how that might happen again if they choose just to repair it and the warranty is only 2 years so I might be stuck with the issue then.. Let‘s see.

Metallic leathers tend to show wear where it is handled the most. As for the crystals, they are bonded (often with an adhesive) so they may pop off with wear and tear. Hope they can give you store credit!

Wow I wish I knew that earlier, thank you for your insight! I still think it‘s strange considering I wore the bag only two times that the metallic finish just disappeared like that. For the crystals I don‘t feel like adhesive is enough they should at least stitch them on for that price. That‘s so odd. Fingers crossed and maybe other Customers are warned about the issues when they see this thread. 🤍

I don't have any metallic bags that have had this issue but I have with metallic shoes! As for the beading, that is a shame and at this price point bag should be of top quality. It is gorgeous though and i hate for you to be turned off to Dio bc of this experience bc i love the brand. Hopefully, they will make good on it for you.

It really made me feel uncomfortable to complain but I just felt this isn’t right. Did you get the shoes from dior as well? They really have nice designs so I can see why you love the brand. It really made me feel uncomfortable to complain but I just felt this isn’t right. Did you get the shoes from dior as well? They really have nice designs so I can see why you love the brand. I do not have any Dior shoes. I ordered a couple of pairs of tennis shoes but as much as I loved them, I could not make them work. I tried multiple sizes but my heel kept slipping out when I walked

I'm not super into metallic but have a pair of Gucci sandals and a couple Tory Burch sandals that had issue with the metallic finish wearing off I have a pair of silver Fendi baguette slides but have only worn 1 or 2 times

Well everyone, save to say this is my last dior handbag. I can’t believe they just dismiss a customer like that. Just because it’s not a known issue to them doesn’t mean it’s not real. I’m an extremely careful person and I’m beyond saddened about this experience. As soon as I get the bag back I will sell it..

I am sorry to hear that you have been so disappointed with this brand. you should be able to purchase a bag and enjoy using it without feeling that the quality has suffered after only a couple of uses. Its absurd to pay as much as you did for the bag then have to fear being able to use it. If they are replacing the handles, I do suggest wrapping them with a mitzah scarf or using extreme caution when handling. I've found oils or even wearing lotion can wear off the metallic finish. Good luck!

Thank you very much. I can’t believe they are trying to gaslighting me that it’s a me issue. I don’t even use handcremes and oils. Like I said I will part ways with the bag as soon as it arrives I’m very disappointed in Dior to say the least… Thank you for your encouragement 🫶🏼

So next update, now he said store credit is only issued if something happens in 30 days within purchase and if the bag is still “sellable”. He explained how my bag is not sellable anymore because it has minor scratches (I said I used it twice) of course the bag has some wear but the issue is the color coming of the handle? I think their policy is weird but yeah. I have to accept it I guess.

What are they doing to fix the beading that fell off?
The lack of customer support is getting ridiculous

I also had an issue with Dior in Europe when I bought several items and the next day thought about returning one small item. There were 2 different Diors in the city I was in and I went to a different boutique than where I had purchased - literally the day before!!! They would not return and told me I would have to be stuck with a store credit that I could ONLY Use in that country - even though I explained I was flying to another country the next day and would not have an opportunity to use. I didn't understand why they couldn't just accept return and refund my credit card like they do in the U.S. and like Louis Vuitton in same city had no problem doing when I also purchased multiple items and decided to return 1 small thing on this same trip.

Bvlgari told me same thing about not being able to exchange something in different EU country even if brand new less than 24 hours old, unused, in original packaging, etc.
