My mother-in-law wants to gift me this watch but I feel like it’s outdated. It’s a shame because it’s a Piaget and worth a lot of money so I want my TPFers to keep me honest and see if I should reconsider.

Oh wow. This is jewelry. Not outdated..no. It evokes a certain period 50s -70s, I’m guessing. It would be smashing with anything simple, dressy or casual. I’d prefer it to the Rolex.

Depends on how you dress it. My friend wears a dressy watch like that when she’s in her traditional Pakistani outfits for parties and such.

She also brings it out when she’s wearing super casual jeans and heels. She layers it with other bracelets so that it looks more like an arm stack of jewelry than a watch-watch.

If I were you, I would accept it and take it as a lovely gesture. Not all MIL are that kind!

Yes! This!
also if anyone thinks yellow gold and white diamonds are not in style, the classics are roaring back
, like this yellow gold wave necklace with diamonds set in white :D

Belperron is owned by Verdura, and vintage Belperron is super popular right now (and priced to reflect its popularity)

Fabulous for evening especially if you don’t have an alternative to Rolex for dressy evening events. Rolex does not work for dressy cocktails and neither works for formal...never wear a watch for formal events...can’t help it, from the East Coast. I don't wear white after Labor Day either!
100% ✓ to all of this!!!
