Is this too big for a wedding ring?

We purchased this ring yesterday and I was very happy with it. I know its a lot bigger than a traditional wedding band, but I waited 8 yrs to get engaged so I am going all out on this! However when I showed to my Mom and best friend, the reaction was less than stellar (they hated it.). So I would love some neutral honest opinions! I know its only supposed to matter if I like it, but I certainly don't want to be flashing around some big tacky ring if that is how it appears! Thanks so much!

not too big! Lots of people stack a band on either side of their ring making it very thick.

It's all one ring. My engagement ring would go on my right hand because the band is crossed and very difficult to pair with another ring.

Thanks everyone so much! I feel much more encouraged. For whatever reason, I get a huge thrill putting it on that I didn't get with any other ring. I hate to give it back to get sized and really hate having to wait until the wedding to wear it! It has been appraised by GCAL...is that a reliable appraiser? I am still looking around a bit just in case I find something else I love more (I am new to diamonds and am getting quite obsessed as I learn more so my taste may change!), but for now I will keep this ring.
