Is this normal/safe? Worried that I am going to get ripped off and need some advice..

totally normal. I have experienced this numerous times, as has my brother when he buys watches. be thankful, & buy your watch from him!
The NV dept of revenue has been cracking down on this activity. So that's why the stores aren't/or shouldn't be doing it now. It got so bad, NV taxation was comparing weight on boxes to make sure they weren't shipping empties.
Interesting. I really wanted to take my watch on the spot both for my enjoyment and also so that I wouldn't have to worry about anything happening in shipping. But SA would not do it. It worked out OK in the end.
I bouught my fince the mens roadster and i was able to get 20% discount. As long as you pay with a credt card your purchase is always covered. Especially Amex
