Oh my these are amazing. So beautiful. Really interesting to read about the history of the lovers’ eyes too.I couldn’t give up on a special ring. But I really like the idea a special watch, especially something unisex like matching Reversos engraved to commemorate your wedding date, initials, etc.
A very spendy and idiosyncratic option with the Reverso that I just love is that you can have them do a miniature of your betrothed in enamel (available for gold models only). The below example is from the 1930s. If money were no object, I’d want to commission Georgian-style his and hers “lover’s eyes.”

gave my now-husband a Daytona for an engagement watch.
Of course back then you could pick one up easily. Paid my retail price and walked out with it.
I bought my husband a blue dial Submariner as a wedding gift...
I'd be d*mned if he was getting away with no ring for me.
I got my DH the Rolex coke GMT. It wasnt a problem then. I might have gotten it brand new under retail or at retail.
Thank you so much! the feeling is mutualIt is crazy to me because the Rolex/Patek/hype watch/etc game is much like H.... you have to have a history/prespend. Our AD is also our jeweler so my ER and all of my other non-branded pieces have come from him. He "offers" us watches at retail... outside of that? Yup it's a totally different ballgame these days. Also, buried the lede here but... LOVE the Coke GMT.Your perfect taste strikes again.
