Thanks! That is pretty great advice, I really have to get on it, I adore it. Especially after seeing in person, I can't imagine how glorious it would be in red. *swoon*

Luna, please do PM me if this bag becomes available in other colors. I don't regularly follow Coach and would love it if you would let me know.

Sure thing! I am waiting to see if they will come out with new colors, I vaguely remember a post saying the classics will be the January set. So lets hope they make a red or a plum! woot!

Yes, it appears that they have added some (or all) of the Coach Originals to the page for the new Coach Classics - probably as they run out of stock on the Classics.

You can tell the Originals because each listings says "Part of the Coach Collection since ______"

If you want to see only the Originals without any of the new Classics, go to the Coach website and select "handbags" then "view all handbags" and "by collection" then "Coach Originals". It will display all of the older style bags that are still available for sale without any of the re-released Classics.

I have never seen any of the new Coach Classics in real life so I cannot give an opinion on the quality of the leather and hardware.

Thank you! :smile1:

Keep checking your boutiques! About a week ago I went into my local store and they had both the british tan and black Stewardess bags for sale. I think someone had bought them online and returned them. Yesterday I went back into the boutique and the british tan Stewardess had been sold but they now had a Mahogany Willis! I immediately took the Willis home. So, not sure how often this happens but people must be buying onine and returning to the store. :graucho:

I checked with the boutiques and they don't even know what I'm talking about. Only selected styles are brought into my locale.

The stewardess is bigger than most of the vintage bags but it is still smaller than many of the modern BIG bags; but it is sturdy and wider than a lot of hobos and it holds a lot. On the coach website they list the dimensions of the Stewardess bag as:

11" by 10" by 4.5" with a 36" adjustable strap.

That can fit an iPad!!! :-)

I may be a little off the thread here, but I hope you all don't mind and will have an answer for me. I am bidding on a stewardess bag on ebay and think they are one of the most beautiful, classic shoulder bags ever made.

I remember flying Pan Am when I was young (starting at 10 years old) and seeing the stewardess (all beautiful and in high heels) with what I now think was the "Stewardess" bag. Does anyone know if my memory is correct, and was this the actual Coach Stewardess bag (which of course would have given it it's name). Hope someone is as old as I am and knows the answer!

Thanks

You are correct; stewardesses carred them. I remember seeing them as a young girl too; that is when I feel in love with the bags. My first Coach was a Stewardess bag.

The Stewardess is my favorite Coach bag! Every once in awhile you can see an original Stewardess bag pop up on eBay. They are a bit smaller with thinner strap then the newer ones. I have seen a few with the UAL (United Airlines) logo embossed into the leather too. Absolutely gorgeous and classic!

Would love to hear the back story on these UAL bags and see a picture. Please? They sound great!

Oops - thought you said you HAVE the UAL bags. I don't know how to edit my first post from the app.

There is actually one up on eBay now. Just do a search for vintage Coach Stewardess and it will come up. They're a bit smaller and have an id pocket under the flap. Gorgeous bags:smile1:

Love it! What a great way to personalize the accessories for the UAL staff! That ID flap reminds me of the Cambridge Satchel company bags. There was a nice photo spread in the NY Times recently on fall satchels spotted on the street. I am pretty sure at least one bag was Coach Legacy.

I owned the older version that was released with the longer strap. I wore mine as a messenger. Tried the new, overpriced classic. There was no way to purchase a new model and swap out the strap. I tried to do it.
It works great as a messenger style. I can squeeze my tablet (which is not an iPad in it)>
