Is the Cartier Complete Service for Watches worth it?

For a quartz I might consider an overhaul at 15 year intervals...however since the movement itself costs less than 300 to replace, it seems rather excessive.
Just brought my mom's watch to Cartier thinking it just needed a new battery. They told me it's not the battery, it needs to be serviced. It will be $422 and includes new battery and polishing (if you choose). I just agreed to it since everything in my life seemed to be breaking this past week! I was a bit disappointed though. The watch is only 4 years old. My Rolex is 8 years old and I never had it serviced ( watch something happen to it now that I said that!!)
I've had my watch for around 10 years and this is the first time Cartier recommended a full service. It was around 420 dollars. I did it, and probably won't do it again for another 10 years. the watch looks like new now of course!
I had a panthere serviced two years ago. It was filthy and the clean up, new battery and complete overhaul was worth it IMHO. What I don't like is that you can't get a loaner watch if you don't have a stand alone store in your city. This was a big bummer for me.
They did in the past. I can't remember what I got other than it had a leather band. I think now they give a tank on a silk or fabric watch band. Our standalone store is gone, so good thing I have another watch to use when mine is serviced.
