I have the opportunity to buy a Saint Laurent wallet on chain in a bright fuschia for a discounted price as my friend is looking to sell. I adore the bag itself but I am usually a neutral colour girl. I thought that since this bag would be more of an evening bag I could use a pop of colour. What are your thoughts on the longevity of this colour? I don't want it to look dated or too young for me years from now. Opinions are much appreciated!

If you love the style of the bag and fuchsia works with your wardrobe, I'd say go for it! I wear mostly neutrals in clothing and love for my bag to be the pop of color -- My new spring/summer bag is a bright raspberry pink!

Fuchsia is a GREAT color, You can wear it any season,
and it is great for a Pop Of Color…

I own a mulberry pink item. Close to fuschia, rather unusual tone. I really enjoy using it.

I think that pink flatters & cheers women, so we keep rediscovering it @ many ages.
Being the color worn to show support, for breast cancer patients & survivors, it's a classic in my book. Brings hope to the suffering & celebrates victories/2nd chances.
Perfect.

Hope this helps.

Thanks for your comments, everyone! It sounds like pink is fairly popular! Part of me is nervous I won't be able to rock a bold coloured bag, my clothes and bags tend to be neutral.

For my mother having a bright pink bag is a must whereas I prefer bright greens as a pop. I think you have to relate to a certain colour in order to make it a signature/classic, but it's personal.

Having said that, I do think that red and/or bright pink bags are really popular judging by posts on tPF

My clothes are mostly neutral too, Prettyvogue, which is why I can rock the pops of color in small bags pretty easily. Here is my fuchsia crossbody, a Chanel mini! I just got the card case at Tiffany & Co. and I was so pleased that it was a perfect match! :D

I have heard that pink is the navy blue of India. ;-)

Really, color is such of a personal thing. I agree with papertiger that it's best if the color really resonates with you.

I get the sense from your first post that you like the bag, but the color wouldn't be your first choice. If you don't love it, I say pass, even though it might be a good deal. I'm sure every woman on this board has bought a bag on sale, because it was on sale, and then later come to regret it.

On the other hand, if it's a WOC, it's small, and probably not a humungous financial commitment. If you don't love love love it as a bag, you can always use it simply as a wallet inside of your other bags.

As to the longevity of pink, I can say that I have loved pink for several decades now. It mioght be having its moment in the limelight, but it's not a weird strange color like neon yellow or something ultra trendy. I wouldn't hesitate to buy a pink bag on the basis of its color.
