Is my Chanel classic flap caviar good or bad. Matte/dull or shiny

Hi all,

I have only a few days left to return and exchange my Chanel classic flap in caviar. It’s my first purchase and would like to know your thoughts on the caviar on my bag. If it’s pretty enough to keep or exchange. It is smooth and the grain isn’t prominent unless light is shined on it? With poor lighting there is no shine to the leather. I’ve attached some images. it’ll be really helpful if you could show some images of your caviar as well!! Please let me know your thoughts on my bag. It’s such an expensive piece that I want more of a peace of mind and opinions.

I understand your point, I worried about the same thing, but it really looks fine.

Noticed a lot of black caviar these days look matte and dull irl. But this is really the look and they look more luxurious in photos. Lambskin looks luxe both irl and in photos but more delicate than caviar. Don’t worry your bag is normal. Sometimes other people get extra lucky and get caviar that has a nice sheen.

Lovely Bag - maybe Lambskin would be more to your liking? Although some say Lambskin not as durable I will truly disagree- have had many Chanel Classics in Lambskin over past 30 years & find it durable smooth & shiny- maybe you should investigate that- yet your bag is fabulous & whatever your decision ENJOy!!

Thank you! i personally like the pebbles for the classics and everything else would be lambskin for me will save up money for future bags. I think I’m just weary with how prominent the grain is but if people think it’s normal then I think I’m a little at ease.

Yes it appears to be more on the more matte finish. This is why I’m more attracted to lambskin these days. But this one is still beautiful! at least no loose or popped stitchings like others have experienced!

thank you again for your response! Here’s some additional photos incase anyone else wants to see. If this is still considered matte then I think I’m okay as the shine is alright for me at this level (I’m assuming shiny is way more shiner than I have). Idk how much more shine is considered shiny? I don’t want a shine so much that it looks plastic

Thank you so much! I don’t have any caviar to compare since all the stores have no stock in any classics! Do you think the pebble grain is okay? It is usually this less prominent and flattish? Thank you for taking your time responding and reading my post

I totally understand, the bags are quite hard to find in stores these days, very expensive and many people seem to have quality issues with them (I had doubts with my first Chanel bag as well) - so you want to ensure everything is good and you can be happy with your purchase

It really is so hard to find compared to a few years ago. I’m defiantly more happier now after chatting you all you lovely people. Everyone has been so helpful! I think my grains look a lot more pronounced in the light which seems normal. Thank you again!
