Is Marc Jacobs a luxury brand?

Are you purchasing clothing by designer name in order to impress people or feel others have to approve in order for you to wear it? Were you attracted to it for the name and low price. Would you have bought the shirt to wear if it did not have his name or logo on it anywhere because you fell in love with the style and it fit your needs?

I truly don’t understand why people feel other people’s opinions should matter in what you wear or buy. Who care what another person thinks? Everyone has different styles and opinions. A designer name on a item does not make it better than everything else.

Through the years I have gotten a bit sick of designer logos. I sold all my monogram LV because I felt it was just too in your face. I recently bought a LV Speedy 35 many weeks ago because I realized it fit my needs in being a indestructible bag ( had two speedy bags in the past 30+ years). LV canvas over any leather purse for high and low end designers work better for me. I personally do find it kind of amusing to see people with head to toe logos, especially of many different designers. That to me is kind of calling out desperation of wanting to have others look at them. One nice designer piece that is quality made can polish up and outfit. People mix and match expensive and inexpensive pieces and things work. To me as long as clothing fits properly, is cleaned and if one actually goes the extra mile to iron items they can look fantastic no matter what the price.

You seem to be upset with MJ image and him falling from the big end sector. I mean who makes these rules? This designer is in that one is out? If one looks at many high end designer items they can find a lot of ugly designs but because it is a high end designer people will buy it.

I get the feeling that you are considered about MJ worth as a designer and people’s view of you wearing his clothing. You either love the shirt and will wear it or will be uncomfortable because it is MarcJacobs and others might consider him low end and not in style no matter how nice the design. My friends and relatives are close enough to say I hate the item you are wearing and why but we never have said anything about a designer name and you can’t wear that because it is by that designer. Usually it is something like a wrong fit or just really ugly bought for the wrong reasons.

Can you post a picture of the shirt so we can see what it looks like? If it is a well made nice design it may be a item you will keep for years and use.

If the top doesn't have a visible logo, most will not know what brand it is. If you like it and feel you paid a fair price, that's all that really matters. It's fun to find a better brand for a good price at a discount store, but you have to make sure the item fits you well and you like how it looks, not just buy it because it seems like a good deal. I look at what type of fabric it is too, I am more willing to pay for a natural fabric like cotton or silk, I usually don't want to pay a premium price for polyester.
