Yesnthe true luxury Marc Jacobs. Maybe Marc by Marc Jacobs mainly because they haven't been designing in that space as mich.. Designers have their seasons. New designers will come in and revitalize a fashion house and change everything. The person who you were probably speaking with didn't know much about fashion.

No. I just saw Marc Jacobs is a premier designer here on forums. I went to TK Maxx today and saw a beautiful MJ top at a low price so I bought it considering the usuall high prices I seen from MJ.
I was surprised people on the net are putting MJ down now so I am confused. To be honest if he did fell from the high end sector then I am a bit dissatisfied I bought it while I need money and can't afford to waste them.
Hopefully he will go back to his roots of being high end. His clothes are expensive as hell on Saks and NM.
Maybe you should return the shirt regardless. Sounds like you won't be happy with it since someone told you Marc Jacobs is neither in style or high end.
Sounds like the person who told you Marc J anything is ‘...embarrassing...’ is one of those types that goes for what’s trendy now. While there may be issues with the line now, the man’s past talents cannot be denied.

That’s all that matters!! I have an MBMJ dress that’s like 12-13 years old? It’s still one of my faves - sort of a timeless style. Simple black dress. I doubt anyone could guess the brand looking at it on me. Some things are timeless like white button down shirts and I honestly can’t tell the difference between a $500 white button down & a $15 one when seen on others.
Buy things you like that look good on you - not just because it’s “high end”. I have shoes ranging from $10 sale @ TJMaxx to Manolo, Prada etc - and the only one who knows what’s what is me! Buy what you love!
You are overthinking this. Marc Jacobs is a high end designer but like many designers it also has a lower end brand. Marc Jacobs lower end brand may not be as trendy since there are more lower end brands emerging. Doesn't mean that the luxurious high end MJ you see on the saks site isn't thriving.
