Want some opinions before I bring this up to my DH. We got engaged 2 years ago and married almost 1 year ago. The diamond we used for my ring is 1.02 and it was a family stone. At the time, my husband and I were on vacation and bought a setting for a 1c stone but once we brought the setting home, the center stone was a warmer shade and did not match up that well. I was always a jewelry girl but at the time, I knew nothing about diamonds. My husband was really proud of the setting and although we looked at other stones to use I wound up keeping as is.

It isn't the difference of color that bother me as much, but the fact the diamond is set upwards of setting. I had not clue about this stuff then and afterwards started to research. I currently have a substantial store credit at my jeweler and instead of buying just anything I was thinking to reset. I am not sure of terminology but I want the diamond to be set "inside" setting maybe even with a double halo. That way it appears larger and you dont see it from the side.

Do you think its too early? I've only had ring 2 years....I don't want to insult my husband. But the perk is the reset would be free.

What a beautiful stone and the ring is really nice on your finger!
I can see what you mean though: the stone is set a bit high compared with the halo.
As your engagement ring is probably (one of your) major statement ring(s), I would discuss it with your DH, without 'dissing' your current ring. Also, I would do even more research until you are absolutely certain about your new setting. The fact that the new update is free, might help a bit?

Never too early for a reset if you're not totally content. Your husband just wants to see you happy and loving your ring. If being a more prudent consumer has changed that feeling over the last two years that's ok. I love your setting but it can be set a bit lower to look flush.

Personally I would like a single halo better for your stone as your stone is already quite large. But it looks good on you and if you really like it, you cannot go wrong.
What other settings are you thinking about?

Short of the ring being lost or broken I would argue that it is always too early to change an engagement ring. I know it is an odd mentality on this forum, and it is possibly just more of a British mindset -v- US, but your engagement ring is the ring you got engaged with. To me if you change it then its just some ring you happen to wear on your left ring finger.

Here most husbands would be offended, even if you got married as poor students and your now rich almost all women still wear their cheap/ small ring they were proposed to with rather than "upgrading" (ring or husband :graucho:)
