Is it possible for a diamond to look whiter in the right kind of setting?

What a beautiful diamond! I would get a six-prong platinum solitaire setting, or four-prong if you become more confident about the color with appraisal/grading. There's an L-color diamond somewhere on Pricescope that was set in a J-color halo... it looked very white once set! Here's the thread:

I am sure that setting diamonds in platinum or white gold will give a whiter effect...plus it is more classic and grand...

That is a beautiful stone! I do think that setting it in white metal will make it appear whiter, but wow does that baby sparkle!
