Do you also find yourself thinking "I've got to stop buying bags for a while"!
The 1941 collection has done me in since its release...saddle bags, rogues, etc.
I now find myself overwhelmed (seriously, I am not kidding). For years I was a one bag kind of girl. I don't consider myself high maintenance, so sometimes I'm literally overwhelmed with thinking about switching from bag to bag daily or even weekly.
I've begun to scale down, but then there is the inevitable new bag that I have to have...but then there is the bag of days gone by that I rediscover & fall in love with again (which just reaffirms that I don't need another bag). Just curious if anyone else out there feels the same way I do. And trust me, its not lost on me that this is even a thread I am putting out there...grateful but thinking I need simplicity...
Let the conversation begin...

You're definitely in good company so please don't feel alone! I too have been seriously downsizing and really want to get to about 10 bags or so that will fill all my needs. Quite frankly, I'm "bagged out" for now...

You are me exactly! A one or maybe two bag and one wallet person. Then my daughter bought me my first Coach bag and as I was looking for a matching wallet, that's where I fell into the trap of all the cute wallets and gorgeous bags. Many bags later I felt so overwhelmed (and even somewhat guilty) over having a lot of bags, wallets and other slg's that I could not possibly use because I don't have an outside job and even if I did I don't care to change bags that often. I got rid of all but a small amount of bags and a very small amount of wallets and a couple of slg's and I've been keeping to that limit......a new bag in, an old bag out. Even with that small limit I would still like to be down to a smaller amount of bags, but can't seem to do it......I bounce around in the 12 to 15 bag amount.

I too got carried away but it is under control now. Downsized to 8 bags, 3 still with tags , and feel happy. The bags I use are about 4years old, in great shape . I can see a noticeable decline in quality when I browse for bags nowadays so I am very glad I got my ones. Want nothing else , happy as it is.
Enjoy your bags, and you don't have to switch bag every day or every week. I go by mood or just by a season. I have jewelry ,watches, and sunglasses coordinated with my bags.

Yes. Me too, but i do downsize. I have been buying coach bags for about 15 years and I have about 20 bags. So, about 2 or 3 a year. To be honest, I've learned to love eBay and really work the outlets for deletes. I have not bought a FP coach bag in a few years. i just bought the cornflower blue rogue on ebay for about $400

I do have about 8 to 10 bags I could sell, but I love them and I wont part with them.

My thought is that everyone has a hobby and bags are mine. As long as you can afford it, there is no harm is my thought. If you can't afford it, then, don't do it.

I've gotten much better and did not buy a bag for two years - besides for an old Kristin on eBay - then, the Rogue came out and i got two. One at the outlet (yes, it was a fluke - and one on eBay

I feel the same way. I carried the same bag for three years and was content. I needed a new bag and decided to go back to my first love Coach and the cycle of buying began. I now have way too many Coach bags. Some that I've never even carried but it's too late to return them, and I don't want to try to sell them on Ebay. They're all nice bags, but if I could do it all over again I would have only bought two or three of them. I'm so glad I returned the few that I was on the fence about but still have way more than I need. I was doing good and hadn't purchased a bag in awhile but decided I had to have the top handle Drifter in black. I purchased it during Macy's 30% off sale, and it came today. I'm pretty sure I'm going to return it. It's a nice bag, but again, I don't need it. Also, today, I received a postcard from Coach about their Thanksgiving 30% off sale. I know I'm not going to buy anything.

Whateve has a good suggestion on the ban thread, as for myself it's been months(I think like early spring to be specific) since i bought another bag.. i also have little desire to change up bags, i am so busy & i simply have no energy to try and switch it. I have been using the same bag for almost a year with a few changes splattered about ....

I won't say i don't enjoy looking and every now and then think oh, i'd like you but reality swings back and i realize i don't lol. Darn logic and practicality. .

I feel this way. I have a handful of bags I use often. I literally have bags of bags that I need to either sell or off to goodwill with them. I sold one so far, have consignment offers for others. Anything not worth selling I'm giving away. When I went through everything and saw how much I had accumulated I was pretty surprised. I had forgotten about many of them so they can't be that important. I've started to look at how to better enjoy the ones I do have - add a bag charm... get a new cool strap...

It's not just bags. I have unused wallets & other slgs I've got to get rid of before I buy anything else.

Ok, #1, I'm bringing my towel & sunblock & claiming a spot on the island. I had always seen the thread but never dove in. I have already started reading through...pretty impressive thread given its only a couple years old! You are my people!

I think my obsession is the hunt for the perfect bag, which I don't really think exists. But my hunt is my justification...so I say.

I got swept up in the saddle craze & then realized they aren't me, then the Rogue, which is close, but why is it I can justify (in my head) spending that $$ on 4 of them but yet I certainly will never spend $500+ for a Dyson vacuum, which I think may be life changing for my dread of cleaning...
I fell victim to the recent Macy's sale (also buying the black drifter which I'm returning) & am aware of the upcoming sale which I'm desperately trying to avoid because I don't need another bag.

I'm not saying I won't buy but my impulse buying has to stop. Any new bags have to fill a niche spot that is currently unfilled in my collection.

Thanks for all your similar thoughts! Its refreshing!

By the way, this forum does NOT help. I visit it when I'm wanting to buy bags. I dropped out when I stopped buying bags. I've never read the ban thread, seems like I should.

Amen!

I will be heading to ban island. I was supposed to be done after the Friends & Family sale, but fell off the wagon and not just Coach. I have three more items on their way and I'm done. I know I don't need another bag I just have to get passed the "want". *Sigh*

I'm with everyone on here. I normally buy 2-3 bags every year and am good about doing the one in, one out rule but this year with the 1941 bags I went crazy and have purchased 9 bags, 2 wristlets and 4 fobs this year! Granted they are all beautiful and I love that each one has a special quality but I too feel that I am constantly searching for the perfect bag and with every anticipation of a new bag I just know this next one will be it but then after I get it I find that it too has shortcomings so once again my search is on. I've been carrying my oxblood rogue for a few weeks now and have realized I am quite content with it so I've been asking myself why I didn't just stop there with that and be happy with it instead of buying another Rogue, 2 dinkys, an Edie, 2 Drifters, a saddle bag, a borough, etc. Thankfully I'm not much into SLGs so I haven't really gotten in trouble there.
Sometimes I feel bad because even though we can afford it, I think of what else I could have done with the money that would have benefited both my husband and me instead of it all sitting there in my closet.

Same as with your vacuum example, I've spent a lot of money to buy all these bags but cringed this week when I had to pay $600 for a crown on my tooth!

Exactly this. I think we can all be more insightful with our money if we give it enough thought. I'm so done with buying too many bags at this point and I'm only spending on what I truly think I need......which at this point is nothing!
