Is it just me, or has Cartier become a bit boring now?

Back in 2019, I was ADDICTED to Cartier. The Rose Gold Trinity ring, Pink Opal Amulette de Cartier necklace and double Love bracelet (to name a few) had me in a CHOKEHOLD. Their portfolio was unique and edgy.. but sadly, most of these pieces were on their way out when I became serious about my jewellery collection and are now discontinued.

Nothing new/exciting has been introduced to replace them (I know Clash came onto the scene, but I’m not really a fan). Of course we have the classic ranges and they’re amazing, but I’m feeling a bit meh about it all.

What do you think?

I actually really like Cartier is 'boring' - shall we say classic? :D

I always wanted the pieces I got. And classic means I can wear my pieces everyday in a minimalist way or mix them with all the other crazy pieces from elsewhere. I never worry about Cartier stuff not being right with any outfit.

Cost per wear Cartier is working for me - I love mixed metal.

All of this. I think the “boring” factor gives it a timeless longevity.

I actually prefer Cartier to be considered boring and "safe".

In fact, I'm planning to get the RG Love wedding band this week (before the price increase) and sell one of my rose gold Hermes rings as I can't see myself with it long-term. The Love ring is a versatile piece for stacking amongst my ring collection, which are mostly Cartier pieces anyway (YG JUC Slim, YG Love wedding band and classic size Trinity) along with diamond and moissanite half eternity bands in different sizes.

I wear my YG and RG classic Love bracelets stacked everyday on their own (with two thin half eternity diamond bangles worn in between on special occasions) and there is no desire to purchase or crave more bracelets.

Cartier jewellery is actually saving me money in the long run.

I still keep coming back to the boutiques, Cartier website, and this forum all the time.

Here’s my Cartier timeline:
2018: bought myself a Trinity cord
2020: bought myself a Tank Française ring pre-loved, bought myself Trinity cord in WG & ceramic
2021: was gifted a WG love wedding band
2022: sold the tank française ring, bought the WG small clash ring, bought the YG love wedding band to stack with WG, bought and then lost WG small JUC ring, bought the tri-color chain necklace

Right now, I have the clash ring on left middle finger and both love wedding bands on right pointer finger 24/7. Haven’t worn the cord bracelets at all. I still wear the necklace 24/7.

Currently, on my wish list on short term, I still have a RG love wedding band on list for my tri-color love wedding band stack on right pointer finger and replacing my lost WG small JUC ring.

In long term, I definitely still have a regular WG love bracelet on my wishlist for a big life accomplishment. Small items include the small tri-color vendome band though have replicated the look with some 1.2mm 14k stacker rings from an Etsy shop.

I would also consider adding a regular WG vendome band as well as a WG écrou ring.

As a guy, I like to think my left side is more masculine with my omega watch and WG clash ring (and eventually WG love bracelet) and then my right side is more feminine with the tri color tones with my YG and WG love wedding band stack and my non-Cartier stacker rings.

I don't know if boring is the right word but I don't really want anything from Cartier anymore.
I have a Love bracelet and ring along with a JUC bracelet and ring so only 4 pieces but nothing else really takes my fancy. I have tried clash so many times but I know I don't really love it enough.
I was considering Love earrings but haven't pulled the trigger yet. Too matchy?
I find other brands like VCA more exciting atm but I wear Cartier the most...jewellery staples.

Me tooo, not boring but I I feel complete with my set ....

Ive been wanting to add a small diamond JUC for the longest time - from about 3 increase ago from momeory but I havent pulled the trigger and I don't think I ever will. I wear my small pave, regular love and small panthere watch daily and I think adding the small JUC is just too much. I feel I would be all Cartier out on both my right and left wrist.

As I get older, I feel less is more....

You may be on to something but this forum probably isn’t the right place haha because most of us own a lot of Cartier and are invested in the brand. But anyway all jokes aside, I do love my pieces and consider them classic.
I haven’t taken my Cartier pieces off in years and being all metal, they are durable and seem to go with everything. I can dress them up or down and I don’t have to baby them like some of my other VCA or pearl pieces which definitely makes less of a mental load for me.

I have seen Cartier quite a bit on YouTube/social media which can make you feel like it’s overdone/everywhere/boring. If you have social circles/friend groups where everyone owns/wears Cartier this could also make you feel a certain way. However, in my own experience and day to day life, I do not see Cartier worn and even if I did, it would not make me feel any sort of way. My pieces hold personal/uniquely sentimental value to me. I like the cost per wear and it’s a huge plus for justifying my purchases to myself but like any brand/piece only YOU get to decide if it’s worth it and/or how it fits long term with your lifestyle.

Boring? No. But how much do any of us really need? Yes, I find this very true. Sometimes the more you stack and purchase, the less special and more mundane it gets.

Oh and I also want to say that if you like the amulette collection (which seems to be slowly discontinuing) then you might like the berlingots collection. Not sure where you are based but as of recently I was told they don’t have plans to bring it to the U.S. but that is a new collection and something a little different/pop of color with the gemstones. I own one of the necklaces that I bought in Asia a few months ago. It appears to also be available in Europe and the Middle East, although either still under the radar or not as popular. But if you’re looking for something new, fresh and not “boring” but still within the brand it may be a good option.
