Is it hard to be approved for the Cartier Red Card?

Personally, if you have good credit and are able to pay off your bills, I would highly recommend using a different card that gets points. Just from buying my love, I got a free round trip flight. To Europe or SA. The red card does neither with the exception of interest free for a year which just encourages impulse purchases I think

I agree. Smart advice :smile1:

You've received good advice. If I could go back in time I wouldn't sign up for any store cards. Unless you plan to be a lifetime cardholder of a particular store or boutique, there is little long-term benefit. And credit is more of a long-term thing than a short-term thing to consider.

Are you planning to purchase lots of Cartier pieces or just this one? I cringe anytime I hear an SA say that I can get 10%-20% off my purchases that day in exchange for signing up for a store card. It's not a selling point. It's not worth the hassle, even if you can afford to pay it off at the time. The catch is that once you pay it off, you will have that card sitting around with no charges, not giving you benefits.

Prices aren't going up (just had an increase, right?), so I'd just wait until you have all the funds. You'd get more benefits with a regular credit card.

Thanks all, but the crux of my (overly?) long post was whether or not there was definitely 12 months at 0% interest and if there were a discount at initial purchase. ;). I figure, hey, 12 mo at 0 is pretty good! But there's got to be some catch? Other fees?

The Cartier Red Card is just like a CC but with interest free for either 6 months or 12 months with NO DISCOUNTS on items! It can only be used at Cartier boutiques and in store. No Cartier boutiques gives any of there customers a discount! That is only at a second hand store or AD! If I remember you will get 6 months interest free if you purchase less than $2500 and 12 months interest free with purchases over that! be warned though the APR is 29.9% if you do not pay off the balance and NO balance transfers. Hope that helps. GL!
