Hi ladies someone mentioned that they had read somewhere on here that Chopard was dated & I was a bit shocked because I don't ever remember it being fashionable, I have 3 pieces & to me its a classic design but I'd love to hear opinions not that it would change the way I feel about my Happy Diamonds I'd still love them if people did think they were dated but I thought it would be good to get opinions.

I also remember the cartier Love Bangle was so popular in the 90's & there were lots of fakes knocking around but I always wanted a real one & nearly 3 years ago I was lucky enough to get one & to me that will always be classic so I put Cartier & Chopard together as classic pieces that will never date but then you only have to look at YG that seems to have come back & I am guilty of selling all my YG jewellery & owning SS, WG & platinum but now I'm loving YG again & have since purchased a few nice classic pieces.

Well, in my opinion, nothing is ever really "dated".

I believe that it's just a matter of personal preference. As for me, I have yet to find something I really want from Chopard; I guess it's not my style.

But if you love it, and it is your style, then surely it's not dated :)

I totally agree & even if something does become dated it always seems to come back round again even if it takes years :D

Oh I've already got 3 pieces but someone mentioned they had read on her it was dated so just wanted opinions not that it would bother me if it was dated because I love the pieces I have

As I said, everything - be it jewellery, clothes or bags - is personal preference. Some people like it, some people don't. I think the word "dated" is often used because people associate certain things (e.g. tennis bracelets) to certain periods (e.g. the 80s).

Oooo I love my tennis bracelet, I would never associate it with the 80's or being dated.

Interesting thread DD, look forward to the poll developing. I'm smitten with Chopard at the moment so it's not going to change my opinion either :D

Well I always love Chopard. I love the Happy Diamond Collection especially. I also love the fact that its not as popular as LOVE bangle or VCA Alhambra. Dont get me wrong, I love the fact that I got these pieces but knowing that I got something special and not many people has it make it extra special IMO.

I think some specific designs definitely age better than others. I have a Rolex from undergrad graduation that feels dated to me. (not that this means i feel the need to dispose of it.)
and I think some designs become strongly associated with an era. That does not seem like a bad thing to me. They are typically rediscovered in some form, usually with a twist. But what feels dated to one person may just feel like a well loved classic to another!
It's easy to say something is dated if the design never spoke to you.

I couldn't of said it better myself......when ever I wear my Chopard jewellery I always get compliments but most people where I live don't know what it is which makes it even more special to me :D
