I kind of fell for the princess cut-shaped diamonds. I guess it was blue-nile which broadened my horizon :)

I want my first and probably only pair of diamond studs to be "classic" in style.

I have seen the square-cut on a friend and it looks extravagant to me, but in a good way!

what is your opinion - what do you think and feel when you see a woman with princess cut studs?

After having been on brilliant-cut literally forever I don't trust my sudden love for the square and would love to read your opinion!

btw: this seems interesting, quoted from Wikipedia:
"There is no universal definition of what measurements make an ideal princess cut diamond and many diamond manufacturers market ideal diamonds with differing facet patterns and angles as "ideal cut". "

My one and only pair of diamond studs are princess cut studs. I consider them classic with a twist! They will never date, so long as you keep the setting simple.

I don't think they are quite as classic as a round setting, I think they have been really popular the last five years or so (fading again now) so I see them as a little trendy, but you should get what you love!

I tend to feel like you do ...but having read the "classic" responses here, I would challenge the princess cut.

I am not sure though: did I like the cut at my friends studs because they were square or because they were 1.5 tcw?

In the end I found out they are fake, glass.
:D

Personally I wouldn't get princess cuts because I don't like the harsh points on the corners, so I would think I didn't like them if I saw them on someone, but they are most definitely classic. :smile1:

Diamond stud earrings are classic, period.
Get the shape that looks best on your ears. Try some princess cuts on--even if they are CZ to see what the size you like looks like on you. Then order from Blue Nile, which is a great company (with a great return policy)
Then post pics.
