Is a Cartier watch more “quiet luxury” than a Rolex?

Even in gold and with diamonds, the cartier panthere watch still seems less of a target, if that makes sense. But is this a misconception? I know there are different opinions on the whole “quiet luxury” concept. In this case, I mean something less likely to be recognized or spotted as a luxury or designer item, but still looks like fine craftsmanship :) Please tell me your own opinions!

I don't have a fluted bezel on my watch and it doesn't get noticed much which is fine with me :) I don't want to be mugged for my jewelry
Oh ok, so your ss Rolex may go unnoticed, just like the Rolex models without the cyclops I think would also be more under the radar. However, if the ss Rolex has the configurations that many see as iconic to the brand it will draw attention. For example fluted bezel, jubilee bracelet, cyclops etc.

it also depends on who you are around. some people have complimented me on my watch.

Sounds exactly like mine lol.

I've always loved Cartier watches, especially the Pasha (for men, because I prefer larger watches). I'm contemplating selling my Rolex to get a Cartier watch, but I don't know yet. Still debating. I also love the Quartz movement, too.

OP I'm confused by your term "target," which implies interest in avoiding theft. Is that what you mean to ask about? Or do you mean, less likely to be a target of random attention? Anyone into luxury goods recognizes Cartier, thieves included.

I definitely think the Cartier Panthere watch case looks just like a classic Cartier, hence luxury, just as most Rolex models (Sub, DateJust) are highly recognizable. Plenty of people know bupkis about either brand.

Buy what you love!
