Hi all! I bought this loop last summer. I’ve worn it only a handful of times. Once with jeans and it shows some strong wear from that day. Will attempt to avoid this happening in the future, but is this something they Bottega can repair in the future? Any advice or experience with this? Thanks for your input. IMG_3051.jpegimage.jpg

If you bought this from BV and have your receipt, there's some sort of warranty, I think - not sure how long it's good for. If you did buy from BV, contact your SA. Otherwise I'm fairly sure they'll honor nothing if you don't have proof of purchase from BV.

No way to avoid wear - bags pre-Daniel Lee and the newest guy have been wearing well for decades, but the newer bags (in the last 5 or less years) don't seem to do well.

Is your inside lining suede or leather? I know that the newer batches of loop bags now have leather instead of a suede lining, which may make them more durable.

Hi! There is no lining at all in this bag. From my research, I think the newer mini loops don’t have any lining. But maybe the newest batches are back to having a lining?

Some of the newer bags have what they call 'bonded calfskin intrecciato' interior on the website, which I think may be more durable? But the bottarga website is still selling bags with the 'bonded suede intrecciato' interior. I wanted the parakeet with the calfskin interior but have not been able to find it. A lot of stores say they still have new bags coming in with the suede interior.

Thanks so much @AnnaPlovesbags Super helpful.

Update. I showed the bag to my SA. She said that that the damage appeared to be normal wear and tear and suggested that each individual woven square that is damaged could be replaced (about $150 for each small square). I asked it this extensive wear was common and she said she has seen it before with some fabrics.

She put some leather conditioner on the damaged areas and suggested that since it’s a summer bag we send it into the repair team for evaluation in the fall when I use it less. She also said repair wait times will be less in the fall. She noted I can always decline service when I get the quote. Not an ideal outcome, but we’ll see what happens when I send it in. I’m surprised by the fragility of this bag. I have only used it a few times.

Each small square? This is a woven bag, no way to do that. How terribly odd.

Super odd! I took what she said to mean that the strips would be cut and the damaged areas (or squares) would be replaced by new leather that would be sewn together in the inside of the bag such that the repair isn’t visible from the outside of the bag. But not entirely sure.

Thanks for everyone’s helpful comments and kind words here! Will keep the thread updated if I send it in for repair.
