hello! I have no idea where else to post this, but we’ve been discussing influencers here as well.

Sibylla Mirage is a youtuber with a gorgeous Van Cleef collection and does many detailed videos. I just saw this video of her exposing a big youtuber for wearing fake VCA and not disclosing it. thoughts?

WOW! I am shocked. She is one of my favorite luxury Youtubers. Haven't been able to watch this vid but reading comments and scrolling through without sound. The fake looks SO close...perhaps she bought a fake unknowingly? Or maybe hers is one from an older collection? IDK.

I imagine many influencers feel the need to keep spending and spending to keep their followers engaged so this could be a result of that pressure, but wow. I always falsely assume if someone has real pieces they won't buy fakes.. she's got a beautiful collection of jewelry and bags, beautiful wardrobe, gorgeous home, so... reminds me of the wealthy ladies buying fakes article in the Cut

Well I hope she is on solid grounds; otherwise stylehard may have a defamation claim. I don’t much like mirage. She constantly does clickbait type video titles. It’s wrong for someone to be showcasing fakes like they’re real but for this person to blast it and act like she’s on some moral higher ground while doing click bait videos for views just seems weird.

Very informative video. It helps people to distinguish between the fake and the genuine.

More and more people who purchase fakes will be exposed in the near future both in real life and online. This exposing of fake ones will spread like fire.

I also dislike her clickbait videos too. However it does call into question the integrity of all of Stylehard’s pieces. I also agree it is risky to call out another YTer. Hope she is completely sure.

Can't speak for her other pieces but the guilloche does look off...my oldest guilloche is the 2020 HP along with the carnelian/guilloche 5 motif from this year, but both look quite different compared to Stylehard's guilloche piece no matter how I shift them around at different angles & lightings...interesting to know if the older guilloche pieces would look similar to hers 🤔

I like Mirage a lot, she has a more genuine personality compared to other designer YT channels. I don’t mind that she does clickbait content, she wants to grow her channel so it’s understandable. StyleHard and other designer influencers just give me bad vibes, I just know they would treat me like dirt under their shoe because they own a Birkin. I think her owning a fake is okay if she’s transparent, but owning a fake to look like you have money is so bizarre to me. I do the opposite, I own VCA pieces and when people ask me where it’s from, I just say Kendra Scott because I don’t care if people think I own a dupe

I feel like these YouTubers need to just be honest about if they own a fake. Authenticity is key…

I wonder if older pieces look different as we know that older beads surrounding the clover look different in Alhambra collection.

But guilloche in clover shape is not that old. (It first appeared in 2018, it stated in vca website. The advanced machine for making guilloche has already been invented by then)VCA does say that the guilloche is inspired by the piece from their archives. The modern guilloche is made by highly advanced machine, that's why each line from guilloche is perfect.

The videos on YouTube are supposed to be educational, it's shocking to know that Style Hard didn't point this out about 'older' pieces and modern pieces if her guilloche was indeed genuine and of older version. It says a lot about her lack of knowledge about different pieces produced in different periods. But I really doubt it as she posted about trying the guilloche on in a vca boutique just recently before purchasing somewhere else I supposed.

Oh wow, I just watched the video and perhaps this is an unpopular view but I really enjoyed the clarifications provided on the misinformation about the MOP in particular. It's so hard to get clear info regarding these pieces outside of SAs and this forum, so I appreciate Sibylla sharing her expertise. She makes it clear she’s not positive it’s a fake bracelet, but is inclined to believe it is because of X reason. I still stand by my earlier statements that perhaps it is some sort of misunderstanding and style doesn’t know it’s a fake (or maybe it is real and Sibylla is wrong).

I suppose YouTubers are put in a unique position because their content depends entirely on what new pieces that can showcase to get more clicks and views which equates more money for them. Whole thing is just a mess though and a reminder not to take anything online too seriously — and not to let these influencers talk us into buying pieces we don’t already love!

Style has talked about buying dupes for pieces she loves (not fakes), on her TikTok she has a dupe of a mini croc Kelly, which to be entirely honest is not something I agree with (but ya know, that’s the decades old dupe Vs fake debate I don’t want to get into)

I love Sibylla and I am one of her VCA hardcore fanatics - I even followed her before her she started showcasing VCA. I believe Sibylla - she is very straightfoward and always blurts out the truth. Sibylla has an extensive and authentic VCA collection - there is no reason for her to lie. I feel Sibylla has given us excellent advice regarding MOP and all of the stones

I agree and she’s honest about SAs being rude and is like the average consumer instead of being snobby and thinking she’s better than other people. I wish more people would talk about rude SAs, because like her, I went into the store to pick up a bracelet and I overheard SAs talking about how I came in wearing the same bag. I’m not a bag collector, I own 3 designer handbags and that’s enough for me, my clothes are usually non-label and that’s okay.

It's ok to wear the same bags again and again. It just says that you are not a bag person and like collecting something else or you like your bags very much.

I would choose another boutique from brand if I don't feel comfortable shopping there.

These SAs don’t deserve your business. I’ve gone into VCA carrying a dirty Northface backpack. If I heard that I would be in their face.
