I was thinking of the saaaame thing. I didn’t even know a wedding bag was a thing.
Wedding bags have been a thing over the last 15 years. (My bf since high school is a wedding planner, so I’ve seen a mildly obscene number of wedding photos in my lifetime) Still, it’s not a big thing. We’re talking about 1 bag pic for every 20 shoe pics.

Judith Leiber did start a bridal line in 2011, and Olympia Le Tan will embroider custom book clutches (they did for KimK’s last wedding) although a lot of brides will have a small bag made from alteration offcuts (remove a train, and reuse the satin) or just buy a bag they’ve wanted for a while. To different family and friends over the last fifteen years, I’ve lent or gifted Lanvin, Leiber, VBH, Bottega Veneta and Gucci bags for their weddings.

The bags are in the Getting Ready room, and then either carried to the reception head table where they will act as part of the decor (esp the Leibers), are left in the ready room until the bride changes into her reception dress, or are in the custody of the MoB or MoH until the reception.

I have not yet seen anyone carry a wedding bag down the aisle. Yet.

To be honest, I don't see the point in having this many bags ...
Being a collector myself of many things… I think of it this way…

That is the point of a collection… why do people collect cigar rings, stamps, pins, trains, cars, jewelry and so many other stuff.

If you are a collector you do it for the sake of having it. Not using not displaying not … the pleasure is purely possessive. You somethimes wear it or show or display it. But it is the obsession of possession…

Now if anyone wants to contribute to my many collections… feel free ;)

It’s one thing to be a collector of things but within reason. Sure you want to collect match books from travel or maybe you want to collect some nice exotic cars or sneakers but when you start going beyond a certain number and the things are filling rooms and multiple shelves and is one of the main focuses of one’s life I think it goes beyond just a collection and some kind of psychological issue. Mel seems like a very nice lady but her level of shopping and collecting goes deep into addiction and hoarding territory imo. And I think that holds true for a lot of luxury influencers on social media with shelves showcasing dozens and dozens of bags and shoes. it’s like they can’t be satiated and are constantly after more and wanting more. When will it ever be enough. I want to see what these people will be doing with their lives twenty years from now.

I also feel like there's a need to keep up with the Joneses and constantly having something yo unbox for her youtube chanel... I would add that for in my mind, if you are passionate about something, you create a curated collection and collect items over time. But to have all these bags in a period of 8 years feels like an obsession as you said.

Any collector I know has a section of their home dedicated to their collection. It’s no different than having a wine cellar or greenhouse in your house.

Mel seems genuinely happy about her collection. I enjoyed the video.
Let’s not forget she not only has the multiple h bags but multiple other branded bags. Her collection is likely close to 100. I don’t see greenhouses and wine cellars as comparators.
